This will include a panel of members who will highlight some of our experiences and achievements along the way. As a special 50th anniversary treat we will have the opportunity to view, for the first time, a video reflecting on the first 50 years of our Society. MicroBee was a series of networkable home computers by Applied Technology, which became publicly listed company MicroBee Systems Limited soon after its release. The original Microbee computer was designed in Australia by a team including Owen Hill and Matthew Starr. The MicroBee's most distinctive features are its user configurable video display and its battery backed non-volatile RAM and small size allowing it to be powered off, transported, and powered back on and resume activities on the currently loaded program or document. It was originally packaged as a two board unit with the lower "baseboard" containing all components except the system memory which was mounted on the upper "core board". Ericsson had designed its first speakerphone in the 1930s, it was in 1959 that the company made a major breakthrough with the development of the Ericovox, according to the website EricssonHistory.com. Until then, speakerphones experienced problems with ambient noise and echoes. The pyramid-shaped Ericovox featured an amplification system that addressed the background noise problems by automatically amplifying the audio in the direction of the speaker, decreasing it in other directions. This box contains a collection of objects and documents pertaining to the memorial service held for Hugh Jeffrey on 6th February 2001. The objects include a folder entitled "Cherished Memories", which contains readings from the service, a list of participants and attendess, and a condolence book. There is also a cardboard folder featuring a crucifix on the cover, which has a preserved copy of newspaper death notices. In this undated photograph, the machine appears to be either a cassette or cartridge player, and the top and cardigan worn by the lady, indicates that this image may have be taken in the 1980-1990s. Vietnam era issue flying helmet type HGU-2A/P. The helmet is manufactured from fibreglass in a jungle green finish and has a thick high density plastic foam lining for head protection. Complete with an adjustable chin strap and a dual visor kit of clear and tinted visors to protect the eyes. This helmet is fitted with two loudspeaker/earphones and a microphone positioned in front of the mouth of the wearer. The microphone has a flying lead with an audio connector for connection to the aircraft communications equipment.
