This is a photograph of the bridge in the Bulla township which spans the Deep Creek, a tributary of the Maribyrnong River. It has been constructed from bluestone which is found across the volcanic western plains in Victoria. Kaolin was quarried from the cliff face in the background and was used in the making of bricks and pottery products manufactured at Northcote and Brunswick potteries.This is one of the many notable bluestone bridges which were built in the district in the nineteenth century.A black and white photograph of a valley with a five arched bridge spanning a river. A bronze bust was erected in Morwell to honour Legacy Founder Sir Stanley Savige. It was unveiled on 31 August 2006 and Legatee Bill Rogers was invited to perform the unveiling. The article from the local newspaper says that "Legacy founder Sir Stanley Savige was finally immortalised in his birthplace, Morwell" with the unveiling of the bronze bust. Private Harry Nutman Derrick, a native of Tallangatta Valley in NE Victoria served with the 37th Australian Infantry Battalion 10th Brigade, 3rd Division AIF. He was wounded on three occasions. On the third occasion he was captured near the village of Clery on 30 August 1918. He died in a German military hospital on 12 November 1918 the day following the Armistice. A transcribed copy of the diary is held in the Local History Section of the Albury LibraryMuseum.This diary documents the day-to-day activities of a private soldier of the AIF during almost two years at war including two occasions on which he was wounded and evacuated to England.
