Has strong association with the event of laying the track across Wendouree Parade during Nov. 1975, an essential task to enable the re-opening of the tramway by the BTPS.Bromide of a black and white photograph of rails being laid to cross Wendouree Parade to access the new BTPS depot access track. Excavation done, first main curve rail being positioned using a crane. Date of photograph late November 1974. Depot Junction in background. BTPS Annual report states that site work began 22/11/1974. Set of four black and white postcards printed onto a one sided colour textured stock and contained within a folded white glossy paper envelope. The white envelope has the title "Ballarat Trams A Pictorial History in Four Post Cards" and a horse tram printed on it - made from heavy one sided paste board. The postcards consist of 1. Horse tram arriving at Grenville St with person stepping off - same image as Reg. Item No. 1539, 3898 2. ESCo tram soon after opening - c1905/1906 - has Gardens destination sign. 3 ESCo Sebastopol tram at the time of construction - with a "Suttons for Gramophones" roof advertisement and lettered "Ballarat Tramways". 4. SEC Tram - appears to be No. 32 in the Gardens area. On the rear of cards 1 and 2 is a text caption story that is relevant to the card picture. Cards 3 and 4 have a story board on the side and further information on the back. We contacted UNSW Press, the book's publisher, which provided the following explanation. Apparently, the team there could not find the scan of the slide submitted for the book. However, a member of the team was able to capture a jpg of page 76 of the book. From my recollection of the original photo, the attached image is very close in terms of its reproduction quality. Set of 8 black and white photographs of the SEC Ballarat track welding truck, Reg. No. 119 341. Truck is a British Bedford truck, model WHG, built by GMH Melbourne between 1932 and 1934. Has a fabric roof, chassis fitted with a tray top body, side tool box, metal frame and covered with canvas, fitted out with a motor generator set, welding equipment and oxy acetylene bottles.
