The program relates to the dedication ceremony of a monument in front of the Soldiers Memorial Institute 39 Pall Mall Bendigo on 15 November 1992. The memorial is dedicated to the Ex Servicemen and Women who served in WW2, Korea, Korea, Malaya, Borneo, Vietnam and Kuwait. Introduction by Major A.J. Balsillie MBE. Address given by H.M. Headwear - HELMET, STEEL - BRITISH PATTERN, c. WW2
British pattern steel army helmet as used in both WW1 and WW2. This example dates from the WW2 era.British pattern steel helmet, dark olive in colour. Outside of the helmet is covered in dark olive green mesh which is secured with olive green cotton cord. A bolt head is prominent on the crown of the helmet and corresponds to a nut and thread on the inside. This nut and bolt secures a black rubber pad. A sweat band in black synthetic material is secured to the inside rim of the helmet. The name "HOLLOWAY' regarding RAAF - only one possible name for WW2.Jacket - dark blue colour wool serge fabric. This jacket has been adapted from a RAAF Service dress jacket to resemble a RAAF Battle Dress Jacket. possibly made in the Norther Territory or on the Islands WW2. Collar, shoulder epaulettes, long sleeves with cuffs and buttons, two front patch pockets with concealed button flaps. Waistband with belt strap and metal slide buckle to fasten jacket.
