Copy of "Plaint Summons No. 39" lodged at the County Court, Ballarat May 1901, titled "Nankervis vs The Ballaarat Tramway Company Limited." Cost claimed was L100 (100 Pounds). Comprises: 1. Cover sheet, on pre printed form, filled out in light black ink and with pencil notations giving a sum of L28/9/6 and L30/0/0 (settlement figure?). Pinned with a brass clip to the cover sheet, which is in poor condition at edges is a handwritten sheet giving particulars of the demand and other details. 2. Copy of Interrogatories for the demands - three sheets of typed paper, pinned together to a typed cover sheet with a brass clip. Dated 15/4/1901 and signed by the W.E. Johnston, Deputy Judge. 3. Copy of handwritten statement by a person (a doctor?) who called on Mrs. Nankervis to assess her condition and circumstances - dated 28/3/1901. 4. Copy of handwritten letter from T. Anderson Robertson (Barrister and Solicitor) of Lydiard St. Ballarat, dated 27/2/1901 to the Chairman and Directors of the Ballarat Tramway Co. Ltd. advising them of the accident and seeking compensation. 5. Letter as for item 4, but dated 18/3/1901 detailing the accident and seeking L50. (50 pounds) settlement. - three separate sheets - handwritten letter. In the cataloguing sheet is an e-mail from Alan Bradley outlining how the documents were obtained. Document has been punched on the left hand side for a plastic comb binder. Has been stapled in the top left hand corner. Contains a request to the Victorian Government for assistance for the a fire sprinkler system ($38,000), rebuilding ESCo tram No. 12 and relaying of the Wendouree Parade track for $165,000. Gives details of each project, including a quotation from Wormald International dated 4/6/1980, a history of ESCo No. 12, including photos and the basis of costing for the reconstruction of Wendouree Parade trackwork. V. Mawby in the Electra Hall, following his appointment at Departmental Tramway Superintendent in Melbourne. Has been with the SEC for 29 years. Gives details of the speakers at the function. 2 - untitled, dated 3-2-1951, about the appointment of Mr,. L.J. Denmead as SEC Branch Tramway Superintendent. Notes he was formally with the MMTB. 3 - "Popular Tramway Inspector Dead" - 10-6-1949 - reporting one the death of Harold Phillip (Freddie) James. Worked for the trams for 41 years, was 61 when he died. Gives an outline of his Ballarat activities. 4 - "Recalls Steam Trams" - 15-3-1946 - about the retirement of Mr. W. K. K. Yields information about the accidents and derailments in Ballarat and collisions with vehicles that resulted in injuries to the driver and major damage to vehicles or passengers.Newspaper clipping from The Courier, 16/4/54 and hand written notes on the collision between with a semi trailer and tram No. 37. Has details of the recovery using tram 21. Newspaper cutting gives details of those trammies involved, Dave Kellett and Herbert Ward. Collided with a semi carrying wool bales. Wal notes the tram was scrapped in 1955. Second cutting notes a derailment of a tram at the junction of Main Road and Victoria St. Noted the delays occurring. Set of 12 A3 proofs, colour, for comment in a large envelope with notes on the outside written by Dave Macartney of the almost final versions of the 12 panels that were installed in Shelters through a Public Records Office of Victoria grant during March 2020. Designed by Peter Lambert Design. 1 - Depots backed by Victoria St 2 - Tram Types - backed by the Mt Pleasant Line 3 - Beginnings backed by the Lydiard St Line 4. - Conductors backed by the Sebastopol line 5 - Carlton St backed by Trams in the City 6 - The Gardens backed by The Gardens lines. The final version for the two at St Aidans drive were changed following Council consultation into a different sized panel but with the same content. Subdivision plans and real estate flyers/brochures reveal a number of aspects of urban development and history. The Kew Historical Society's collection of these plans, as well as advertisements extracted from magazines, cover key aspects of community development and architectural history of Kew and Kew Eat as well as surrounding suburbs. While most of the plans in the collection were gifted to the Society by the former City of Kew, a number of other plans and advertisements have been donated by individuals, of which this is an example.Promotional brochure for the Camberwell Panorama Estate. The four page bifold handout advertises 216 home sites bounded by Bulleen Road, The Nook, Fortuna Avenue, and Doncaster Road. Other streets in the subdivision include: Sunburst Avenue, The Moor, and Macedon Avenue. The brochure has been damaged at some time in the past and so masking tape obscures the tram on page 1. Sixteen page book with brown paper covers in addition. Pages printed on art paper with a red overprint on some pages. Titled "Nachod Signals", published by the Nachod and United States Signal Co. Inc, successors to Nachod Signal Co of Louisville Kentucky. Has a list of dates on page 2, of patents, the last being 5/2/1918. Has on the bottom of most pages "Nachod Spells Safety" Details the Nachod signals system, type CD with the details of the operation, elements of the system, signal layout, installation and wiring, trolley Contactors, signal aspects, relays, assembly on poles, ordering information, fuses, special designs and modifications, information in ordering, quantity and list of material, and specification details of the Type P on the last three pages. See also Reg Item 3318 for another US company system, received by ESCo at the same time. Indicates that the Nachod and US Signal Company had merged.On top of page 1 "Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society Catalogue No. 3" in black ink and overstamped ESCO's date stamp of 4 Nov. 1926. Yields information about the drawings that were used by the depot or workshop staff as reference drawings. Has a strong association with the depot workshop staff. Yields information about equipment on Ballarat tramcars and Signalling.Folder containing 46 blueprints or Dyeline prints of SEC tram equipment drawings. Front of folder made from a cloth back sheet of paper extended to secure to a thick cardboard runner. Rear of folder made from an old tram advertising panel or cardboard sheet, cut to size and secured to a thick cardboard runner with a cloth backing on both sides. Sheets secured with three brass screwed clips. Front cover damaged in bottom right hand corner. Rear cover breaking apart on outside around cloth binding. Heavy dirt marks from “grease” on bottom half of rear cover. Contains 46 drawings which have been individually catalogued and numbered on the rear of each drawing within the folder. Some of the drawings have been folded.
