The Fisher family lived at Waterloo farm, Smythe's Road, near Ballarat. Alice Russell Shaw the daughter of Jessie Black Hamilton and John Shaw, married Albert Fisher in 1909 and had 10 children by him. They lived at Waterloo farm, Smythe's Road. Alice Russell Fisher (Shaw) was known as 'Queenie' Fisher. This family farmed in the Smythe's area for many years. They produced fine milk and butter. Jean, their second eldest child recalled that when they made the butter sculptures they used plenty of salt so that it wouldn't melt. Alfred Ernest Edwards was born 29/12/1903 in Mitcham and died 4/7/1967 at Forest Hill. he was a kiln worker at Geal's Pottery, Nunawading. Doris Gwendoline was born in 1905 at Surrey Hills and died on 15/3/1996 in a Healesville nursing home. She was 91. When Doris two her father died. Her mother remarried (Finger) and she had two step-sisters. William Cook was one of the earliest settlers in Vermont. Having returned from the W.A. goldfields he married Jane Maggs in 1880 at Wickliffe, Victoria and his only child, Amy, was born in 1881 at Box Hill. William Cook's property fronted Whitehorse Road, Mitcham and ran north almost to the Mullum Mullum Creek. He shared part of his eastern boundary with the Schwerkolt family. Born in 1938 in Blackburn the only child of Albert and Margaret La Galle, Keith was known as a clockmaker.
