The study into the Grampians Puma was undertaken by John A. Henry to settle the question of the existence of a puma population in the mountains. People who believe they have sighted a puma, or have sighted other evidence, were interviewed. The study also looked into records relating to the potential of USA army personal leaving a mascot in the grampians. The Ballarat School of Mines Students' Representative Council was the governing body of the Association. They were required to carry out the aims and objectives of the Associaton and to establish policies that are approved by referendum. They were required to establish a budget, authorize Association publications, appoint an auditor, appoint a returning officer, nominate representatives for College Committees and ensure that all student groups are adequately represented by providing a position for each department on the S.R.C.. There were also responsible for the employment of Association staff and have a commitment to providing a friendly working association. This float was created by members of Friends of the Park, a group formed in 1987 against government proposals to turn the railway and reservation into a grand boulevard to service the proposed Sandridge City 'Bayside' development. Members worked for months to make the decorations, added to a trailer. During the festival procession sausages were BBQ'd on the trailer and handed out to the crowd.
