Edith Louisa Cavell 1865 - 1915 was a British Nurse working in German occupied Belgium during the early years of WW1. She saved lives on both sides but she also helped some 200 Allied POW’s and Civilians escape Belgium to Britain. Hughy Pippin 1895 C Coy 38th Batt AIF. As the holster is engraved with Jack Grintons name, No 1043 they were good friends during and after the war. It is believed that Jack gave Hughy a holster and Luger pistol as he had 2 at wars end. The "St Quentin" on the holster is debatable. Refer 1052 medals, 1513.4 documents.
