Has index, acknowledgements, table of contents, list of illustrations and references Looks at the establishment, construction, operation and demise of the cable tram system in Melbourne. Provides location details of the engines houses, tramcars, ticketing, management, politics, the Northcote line and the workers. Has a hand written note written by the daughter of John Caddell, a cable Tammie. An ESCo tram is westbound on the south side of Sturt St. Note the telegraph pole on the left side of the photo. One the rear is a birthday message to a person in Hamilton Newcastle.
