Small black and white photograph of the entrance to Victoria Park showing high iron gates that are open. The gates are open but the gate on the right is behind the fence. There are caste iron lamps at either side of the gates in front of the bowed-top picket fence. Between the gates, in the distance the fountain is visible. Murray pines are also visible. Wide dirt approach.Victoria Park is of social and historical significance to the people of Echuca and district. It includes a state park that has a natural dry schreyphyll forest with a canopy of eucalypts. The Park also includes sporting grounds and facilities and picnic areas. A digital copy of a black and white photograph of the Buxton Hotel in Buxton. The Buxton Hotel was built by William Burchall, probably in the late 1870s. The first owner, who also had land locally, was Frederick Nichols (1833-1904). The Buxton Hotel is located directly opposite the General Store. It was fronted with two huge oak trees and bordered and backed by large pine trees. It was a weatherboard structure with a painted corrugated iron roof. Old split wood shingles were covered by corrugated iron, which overlaid the shingles to make the roof watertight. Ian and Jean McDonald were the children of Mr and Mrs Norman McDonald of 42 Gladstone Street, Orbost. This photograph was taken in late January, 1919 on Jean's first day at school.. It was taken at the home of John Rowe, the former headmaster of Orbost Primary School. He was then living opposite the school. Norman Alexander McDonald was a book-keeper at Macarthur‟s and was very musical. He was proprietor of the Capitol Cafe, Nicholson Street, Orbost, selling the business to Mr Coad on 4th December 1947.
