This was the first-time winning the "C" grade band competition at Tanunda, S.A. as well as representing Victoria in that competition.There were five new bands participating in the Tanunda, South Australia Band Competition in October 1928, and the Nhill Brass Band under the direction of Mr. James Davis had the honor of representing Victoria. The band participated in the competition despite there being an influenza epidemic before they left. This was the first-time winning the "C" grade competition at Tanunda,S.A. as well as representing Victoria in that competition.Photograph attached to the center of brown colored picture card, with border, title and names inscribed. Cheatle sterilisation forceps used by Dr Lorna Lloyd-Green, Allen & Hanburys, England
These forceps are most commonly used for placing and removing instruments within a sterilization container. They were mainly used to remove smaller articles from gas and, later, steam sterilisers. Larger items, such as dressing trays, large bowls, and jugs, were removed with the larger Harrison's forceps. Cheatle forceps are also sometimes used as a type of dental forcep, to remove hot sterile instruments from the autoclave and place them into sterile pouches.Set of stainless steel forceps with screw joint. Shaped like a gun the handle of the hollow holder being at a rectangle. The connections are attached to a cone shape. The part that fits inside this holder is straight with a handle at one end, with a shield to stop it travelling into its holder too far.Then it continues as a rod, half way along which is another shield until the rod stops at a solid half cylinder. Tool - Towel clips used by Dr Michael Kloss
These items were part of a collection of instruments used by Dr Michael Kloss in his medical practice. Dr Kloss subsequently donated this collection to the College.Two small metal towel clips. The clips resemble small sets of scissors, with a ratchet adjacent to the handle to lock them at particular apertures. The end of each arm of the scissors bends upwards 90 degrees, then towards the centre of the clip at another 90 degree angle. Each arms tapers to a sharp point, with the ends of the points facing and adjacent to each other. Both clips are engraved with the word 'Kloss'. This device was used for the treatment of procidentia (severe utero-vaginal prolapse). Cotton tape would be attached via the holes at the distal end of the instrument and tied around the waist to hold the pessary in position.The usually enlarged cervix would sit in the inserted cup. The vagina and the uterus were returned to the anatomically correct position. The instrument would be removed for cleaning approximately every three months. Women deemed to be a severe surgical risk were the beneficiaries of this treatment.Black vulcanite pessary. Consists of an oval cup attached to a stem. The stem is slightly curved and ends in a bulb.
