Swagger Stick
Trench art, Vietnam era. Made of a wooden rod and a spent 50 calibre cartridge which has been cut into two with one piece attached to either end of the rod to form an ornamental stick, commonly referred to as a 'swagger stick'. Half of the cartridge, complete with a projectile forms one end with the other half of the cartridge forming the opposite end. There is a gilt uniform button attached to the cartridge detonator end, with the emblem of the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME). -

Part of the collection purchased by the City of Portland from Kurtze's museum. Brendon Kurtze believed it was from the 'Constant', but the wreck was later proven to be the 'Regia' by V.A.S.Wooden painted figurehead believed to be from the barque 'Regia' (built 1835). Painted white female with floral wreath in hair, holding a scroll in both hands, sash over right shoulder, diamond-shaped object on ribbon around neck, beaded necklace, dress with puffed short sleeves, bare arms, hair set in curls and a bun on the back of head. Figurehead is torso only. Inspection suggests that it has been cut from the wreck or from the rest of the figurehead's body.Front: (no inscriptions) Back: (no inscriptions) -

White camisole with round neckline with 4 cm deep fine woven lace. Neckline is shaped into six sided effect. Short sleeves edged with the same lace. There are four pearl buttons behind a concealed front opening. Two groups of three pintucks are on either side of the centre front. There is an 8 cm deep peplum and a casing with a cotton drawstring tape to define the waistline. Wedding veil and headpiece. Soft cream in colour, the fine soft tulle is embroidered with a continuous, curvaceous, chain stitched embroidered leaf design. Tool - Breuer haemacytometer in case, Ernst Leitz
A haemacytometer is an instrument used to count blood cells. It is commonly applied to a combination of counting chambers with cover glasses and has pipettes for red and white blood cells. This haemacytometer was manufactured by Ernst Leitz's factory in Metzlar, Germany. This company grew to be come what is now Leica. Haemacytometer in brown leatherette case. Consists of two glass pipettes with attached red rubber tubing, a glass microscope slide, and three small plastic square slide accessories. The base of the case is cut out and lined with felt to accommodate the parts of the object. Top of the case is inlaid with gold coloured text which reads 'Haemacytometer/Breuer/E.Leitz/Wetzlar'. Glass slide is engraved with the text 'E.Leitz/Wetzlar' and scale measurements. Glass pipettes are printed with the text 'E. LEITZ, WETZLAR'.pathology -

Part of the Running Stitch collection. Given to "Running Stitch" c1995 by the Korrumburra Art GalleryLarge wagga made from fabric pieces which have been hand stitched together and lined with jute wheat bags. Fabric pieces are roughly rectangular and of various sizes. They are made from cut-down cotton knit garments (green and pink), a pink cotton fabric with floral print and various woollen garment pieces and their linings. Pieces are roughly over stitched together with various woollen threads. Significant in being a roster rotation sheet that issued prior to the reduction in services - date unknown and also a different way of doing things compared to other sheets.
