Features West Australian trams.Grey covered photograph album with word "Snapshots" on front cover, tied together with a grey cord, light brown paper inside covers holding some 19 sheets of card on which photos have been mounted using photo corners of various types, captions in blue or black ink. Has some 126 black and white photographs including some postcards. Has photos of various locations and lines within Perth, includes works trams, trolley buses, arranged by tramcar class in some places. Also has some Kalgoorlie and Leonora electric trams and Derby horse tram. Includes some tickets and one newspaper clipping re the closure of the Perth system. Document - Letter/s, Wal Jack, Wal Jack to John Southern
Letters hand written by Jack, concerning primarily his observations of steam locomotives and trains in the Ballarat area, with some references to his health, trams, replacement of steam locomotives by diesels (which he did not like). John Southern lived in NSW and was a well known collector of information and photographer on Australian steam locomotives; wrote articles for the ARHS Bulletin and other publications. On first letter, Wal notes he was involved in an industrial accident at the Ballarat Gun Cotton factory in 1943 which severely affected his health. ... Receipts from the AT&MOEA Australian Tramway & Motor Omnibus ...Used as proof of payment from AT&MOEA of members union dues. Shows the method of collecting union dues or membership fees by the Union.History of a tram employee's transactions with a public transport union of whom they are/were a member. Said public transport union has been superceded by the RTBU since 1993.Three (3) blue receipts (numbers 1752-1754, consecutive) with the phone number and address of the Victoria Branch of the AT&MOEA. All are from 1981, with handwriting indicating a signed date of 7 October of that year. Receipts are originally intended for quarterly tickets, but receipts 1752 and 1753 have handwriting indicating their actual use: "Joining Fee" and "arrears" respectively. Said 2 receipts also have the quarterly ticket price crossed out with actual amounts of their corresponding intended transactions annotated (both are A$1). Receipt 1754 is for a quarterly ticket. Wal Jack had an extensive range of correspondents throughout Australia and the world who often provided him with detailed drawings and notes on various tramway systems. The letter from a resident of Dusseldorf West Germany, details the author's travels, issues post World War 2, photos, enlargers, a visit to Koln or Cologne, war damage, photos of Russian tramcars, tramcars in use, the interurban line to Bonn and his forthcoming visit to "Dusseldor fer Waggonfabrik" which became the Duewag factory. Tramways MMTB tickets ...When Australia changed from imperial currency to decimal currency on 14/2/1966, a well-planned operation of conversion took place. This involved changing public transport tickets as well, especially those where a printed value was shown. The MMTB printed dual currency tickets as part of the process.
