In 1988, as part of a Defence of Mainland Australian policy, defence of facilities of strategic importance in northern Australia were allocated to Army Reserve units. ‘A’ Squadron was allocated the defence of Tindal Air Force base located 15 KM outside Katherine in Northern Territory. Consequently the Squadron deployed on Exercise ‘Northern Explorer’ to gain first-hand knowledge of operating conditions for mounted and dismounted patrolling in the area.Colour photograph of Captain C. Trophy presented by The Corio Freezing Works Cricket Club to the Geelong Industrial Cricket Association in 1927 for competition and won by the Excelsior Mills 'A' Cricket Club for the 1929-1930 season.Trophy has cricket stumps and two crossed bats forming handle on lid. Lid attaches to a large cup with thin handles protruding either side, cup also features inscription on front. Below the cup is a thin metal stand with which the handles meet. Bushfield is situated on the outskirts of Warrnambool . The local Bushfield recreation reserve has been home to a number of local football and cricket clubs which play in various leagues in the Warrnambool district. Litle could be The Bushfield Cricket club has possibly been combined with another local team It is home to the Woodford Cricket Club which is the closest club to Bushfield and which uses the Bushfield oval as its home ground. It is a member of the Warrnambool and District Cricket Association. We have little information on Stan Sharkey who was obviously associated with the club in the late 1970's.Cricket is an important part of sporting life in Australia and especially in country regions where clubs often form part of the social network of the towns and districts. They rely heavily on the contributions of volunteers such as Stan Sharkey to operate. Many have recorded their histories through the years but nothing could be found on the Bushfield club.Oblong stainless steel tray with rounded corners . Allocated for ‘Off-the-Beach Boats’ it was first won January 15, 1972, by J.S. Collingwood with the Heron Class yacht Cirius II. Later to become solely for the Cadet Dinghy Section and first won Season 1975-76 by L. Mulligan with Kestrel. Following the demise of the 12ft Cadet Dinghy Class, trophy reallocated to cover Squadron long distance series of events.Silver rose bowl trophy standing 240 mm high to lip edge, 380 mm in diameter on solid flared stepped footing.
