Pair of elbow length cream kid gloves, three pearl buttons at wrist and cream net horseshoe with apple blossom and pink rayon horse shoe. On 18th June 1853 the 839 ton ship 'Earl of Charlemont' was wrecked near Barwon Heads. Her 450 passengers and crew struggled ashore without loss of life. Among them were John and Anne Morton, their 3 sons and 5 daughters. Before leaving Ireland, their eldest son George Pickering Morton, had married Anne Eliza Burrowes. Their son, Thomas Richard Burrowes Morton, born in Melbourne on 12 March 1854, was usually known as ' T.R.B.' Aged 26 he married Louisa Mary Esther Morgan. In 1909 Louisa Morton had a cottage built at Points Lonsdale and named it 'Dorrington', surname of her Welsh Grandmother. During previous holidays the family stayed at the 'Terminus'. Margaret Ellen Holloway married William Hugh Hooke in 1892. Margaret is the daughter of James Charles Holloway and Mary Bennett. She was born in 1864 in Indigo,via Rutherglen at the gold lead. Her father James came out from Somerset England with a large family group to settle in the North East of Victoria and to try their fortune at gold mining. The Holloway’s and their descendants then went on to farm in the district including Rutherglen, Chiltern, Springhurst, Barnawartha and Browns Plains. Alice Amelia Holloway married Arthur William Brooke in 1897 in Melbourne, Victoria. Alice was 25 years old at the time of her marriage. Alice died in 1959 in St. Kilda, Victoria. Her parents were James Charles Holloway and Mary Martha Bennett. Alice was born at Indigo via Rutherglen in 1872. This is her in her wedding finery.
