Passed on to Elizabeth Russell Martyn (nee Main) then passed on to June Mary Martyn then passed on to Robyn June Dunn nee Treogett Great Granddaughter of Catherine then to Catherine Dunn Great Great Granddaughter. White Cotton knitted Quilt, Cable Pattern, Diamond Shape Pattern, with four raised shapes in diamond pattern - Edge Crochet Handmade in 1880. 44 Pieces put together. -

Functional object - Brass Paid Stamp, C G Roeszear & Son, circa 1920
This stamp was made by C G Roeszear & Son Melbourne. This was passed to me by my mrother, Mary Elizabeth Millane Nee Markham. She told me that, for as long as she could remember - and from at least 1920 - this stamp had been used by her mother, Bertha Jane Markham (nee Cruse) when she was Post Mistress at Mitcham and that she, ( that is, my mother) had continued to use the stamp in her own shop (Cnr Station St and Whitehorse Rd) from 1944 to 1957. This stamp was used in Mitcham Post Office continually from 1920 to 1944 at which time the Post Office was removed from the building; it was then used in the shop at the same location until June 1957.Mrs Markham's Paid Brass stamp Wooden bull shaped handle attached to a brass oval shaped stamp with words PAID IN FULL Mrs Markham was postmistress at Mitcham.It was part of her shop & dwelling cr Whitehorse Road and Station Street.Building on WCC Heritage overlayPaid in fullmetalcraft, bronzeware -

Dress worn by Mary (Molly) Sprunt on marriage to John (Jack) Leith on 12 March 1938 at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Rushworth. Veil was handmade by mother Madge Brydon in 1912 for her wedding. Dress and veil donated by Molly's daughter. Dress also worn by sister - Lyndsay (Lyn) Sprunt for her marriage to George Hendrie on 10 November 1945 at St John's Church Elsternwick. Gown made by Molly and Lyn's aunt Edith Brydon. Veil (NA3495) worn was made by mother Madge Brydon. Donated by Molly's daughter.Cream damask 1938 satin dress. Long sleeves, cross over neckline to a diamond front panel. Skirt cut on the cross, with front pleat. Back skirt has long train. Self-covered buttons at centre back.|See also NA3495 - Veil. O'Callaghan's hotel was one of three 'hotels' which operated in Mitcham in the late 19th century. Suited on the corner of Station St and Whitehorse Road it was run by Irish widow, Mary Jane O'Callaghan. Belonged to Captain Matheson, father of donor. Family owned 'Strathdon'.A property they purchased when he and Mary McLaren were married. The property was named after a ship he served on.Soft black leather oval shaped case with strap at top. Lined with dark blue cotton and small leather pocket inside. Five detachable white collars, leather travelling tag and leather sewing kit inside. Sewing kit contains sewing cotton, scissors, buttons, wool, safety pins and name tags.
