Thomas Austin was born in Tunbridge Wells, England, in about 1822. He married Charity Ford (or Foord) in England and they migrated to Australia with their first three children in 1849. They had eight more children in Australia. The Austins lived in Linton from about 1861, where Thomas Austin ran first a post office, newsagent and stationery shop, and afterwards a tailor's shop, in Sussex St Linton next to the Grenville Shire offices. Thomas Austin moved to Kyneton in 1882. He died in Melbourne in 1888, and is buried at Linton. Duncan Cameron, the second son of Ewen and Marion Cameron, was born in 1856 at Ashby and died at Linton in 1936. He worked as a stonemason, and was an active member of the Old Lintonians' Association. Court House Hotel. Patrick St. Stawell. Thomas Crerar built this hotel opposite the Court House in Patrick Street in 1879. The first license was from that year until 1884 by Elizabeth Cowman. The final license was held by Margery Bonetia Phillips from 1903 to 1909. It was closed by the Licensing Board 3/5/1909. Speros Kostopoulos first arrived in Australia in 1900, returning to Greece to serve in the 1912-1913 Balkan wars and then returning to Australia. He was a foundation member of the IPS in 1916, the same year he married Ivy Peak. In partnership with his brother Othon Kostopulos he ran successful cafe businesses in the CBD and St Kilda. He later purchased a poultry farm in what is now the suburb of Chadstone. When the farm was eventually subdivided, Ithaca Court was named after Speros' birthplace and Ivydene Court (incorrectly listed as Ipydene) after his wife Ivy.
