The text reads as follows: "After we had tried in vain to induce a certain gentleman to visit Talma for his photograph, the Australian Sunday School Teacher was able to present him to its readers. How came t.. ..out? Can it be that the gentleman concered likes Sunday School folks better than he loves Fellowship folks? Perish the thought! Another explanation must be found. Born in Flemington Victoria in 1885. Minister of the Methodist Church of Australia 1912 - 1921. Married Florence May Jones in 1914. Egypt, England, France with the AIF 1918-1919 (YMCA). D.D. 1924. Lecturer on international, public and literary topics. Moved to the United States in 1921, and was appointed pastor of the First Congregational Church in Berkeley California. Visited his brother W.V. Black and white portrait of Frederick John Cato seated holding folded papers. The coloured photo is an A4 print of a painting of Fred Cato in the Canberra National Portrait Gallery. In both photos Frederick is seated and dressed in a suit, vest and tie. Frederick John Cato (1858 -1935) was a grocer, part of the Moran & Cato chain of some years ago. He was born in Stawell and went to 502 (Stawell State School) for many years eventually becoming an assistant teacher. He resigned in 1887 to go teaching in new Zealand. Frederick was a generous man and Cato prizes were presented to pupils attending 502. Stawell benefited in many ways from his generosity. Cato Park was named in his honor. Photos of horse drawn wagons loaded with wheat in front of Wimmera Flour Mill. Railway trucks in front of mill. William Frayne built and owned the mill (181-01). This photograph was taken near the railway station. Rail trucks indicate late 1870's, railway opened 1876.Two black and white photos of horses with loaded wagons. In the first photo there are 4 men and many loaded wagons in front of the wooden three-story mill. In the second photo there are six horses pulling a loaded wagon with bagged grain and driver seated on the load. stawell business industry farming -
