Miss Eliza Bromby was Principal of Ruyton Girls’ School, 1888-1910. She shared her Principalship with business partners Mrs Louise Gubbins & Miss Lilian Irving 1888-1895, and Miss Emilie Lascelles 1900-1910. Ruyton Girls' Schools was founded in 1878. From 1889-1920 Ruyton was located on the corner of Abeckett and Barry Streets, KewBlack & white photograph of Principal Miss Eliza Bromby, with the students and staff of Ruyton Girls’ School, in 1909. The group is arranged in four rows of seated and standing individuals, with the school’s main building behind them. The photograph has been mounted on grey card. Photograph of the first Kew Mayoral Ball to be held after the Second World War. The photograph formed part of the collection of WHS Dickinson and was presented to the Kew Historical Society by his daughter in 2018. A group portrait of attendees at the 1947 Kew Mayoral Ball, held in 1947 at the Hawthorn Town Hall. In the second row, centre are the Mayor and Mayoress of Kew, Cr WHS Dickinson and Mrs Doris Dickinson. Also in the photo are the acting Town Clerk of Kew, Bill Graham (3rd row at left), two flower girls, Judith and Janet Dickinson, and debutantes with their partners. Sr. Scott is in a room in the Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) Melbourne Centre. She is wearing the RDNS grey uniform dress which has the insignia "Royal District Nursing Service" written in white on a grey background attached to the upper sleeves. The photograph is showing some of the equipment which is available for temporary loan to RDNS patients.From the founding of the Melbourne District Nursing Society (MDNS), in 1885, known as the Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) from 1966, equipment was loaned and demonstrated to patients and their family members, to enable them to care for their loved ones in their home. In the 1970s RDNS employed a Physiotherapist who taught RDNS staff the correct transferring techniques, including the use of a hoist when this became available. RDNS staff taught and used these techniques in patient’s homes to undertake safe transfer of the patient and to reduce physical strain on RDNS nursing staff and family members. Each RDNS Centre had a room or shed where equipment for loan was kept. Headquarters also kept additional equipment which could be transported to Centres as required. This photograph is a record of the Melbourne District Nursing Service (MDNS) Moorabbin Centre, situated at 611 South Road, Moorabbin. It was opened in mid 1965 and was the fourth Centre MDNS had opened. Following Royal patronage in 1966, it became known as Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) Moorabbin Centre.Gradually over the years, Melbourne District Nursing Service, MDNS, later known as Royal District Nursing Service, RDNS, from 1966 when they received Royal patronage, opened Centres throughout the Melbourne Metropolitan area. Their Trained nurses (Sisters) left from these Centres each morning to carry out their nursing visits in a specific area, taking any sterilized equipment needed with them. They returned at the end of the day to write up their patients nursing histories, clean and reset any equipment used ready for sterilization, and to contact other medical personal as necessary. Most of the RDNS cars were housed at each Centre, only a few being driven home by a Sister.Black and white photograph of RDNS Moorabbin Centre. Bonbeach is a small beachside suburb located between Chelsea and Carrum. The station was opened in 1926 and was the last to be established in the group from Aspendale to Carrum. Urban growth began after World War II. State primary and high schools were opened in 1958 on land in Breeze Street that was once occupied by The Australian Glass Manufacturers. Immediately east of the school sites is the Patterson River Golf Club. The Bonbeach sports reserve has five ovals and is home to the Bonbeach football and baseball clubs. The suburb borders the Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands which is the remnant site of the Carrum Carrum swamp, once the home of the Bunurong people.Bonbeach was originally a seaside destination for holidaymakers and the housing comprised of holiday homes and gradually more permanent residents. It was not until 1926 that Bonbeach had its own railway station. From 1906 until the late 1940s sand was quarried on the east side of the railway line and used in the manufacture of glass. The Australian Glass Manufacturers sold this land in residential blocks and Bonbeach's permanent population spread from the coastal strip across to the other side of the railway line. Laminated colour aerial photograph of the suburb of Bonbeach and also the southern section of neighbouring Chelsea within the City of Kingston. The extent of this 1993 aerial image includes: Top left - Maury Road at the south end of the Chelsea shopping Centre; Top right - Scotch Parade Chelsea Bottom left - Monica Avenue in Bonbeach; Bottom right - Patterson River Golf Club. Landmarks include St Joseph's Church and Primary School, Chelsea Primary School, Bonbeach Station, Bonbeach Fotball Club sports playing fields and Bonbeach Life Saving Club. This image is one of a series of photographs taken by Melbourne based photographers Stevenson and McNicoll who visited Bacchus Marsh and its nearby districts between September and November 1883. The Catholic school in this picture was located in Fisken Street, Bacchus Marsh. It was opened in 1863 and operated until about 1890 when the pupils transferred to another school at St Joseph's Convent.Small sepia 'carte de viste' style unframed photograph on card with gold border framing photograph. Towanga & Mt Bogong. Mt Bogong is actually the mountain on the left at the back. Early maps spelt Tawonga differently to the current day spelling 'Tawonga'. The haystack and fence indicate that the photo may have been taken at the turn of the century.
