This bottle held clag or gum to be used to seal envelopes. Glass bell shaped clag bottle. This type of clag or gum would have been for sale in newsagents and stationery outlets for the sealing of envelopes. Prior to the invention of the pre-gummed envelopes a sealing agent was needed and sold separately. This bottle would have had a paper label detailing the clag manufacturer and amount contained. The wide base was to add stability in use to avoid it tipping over. This collection of photographs produced by Murray Views, Gympie, features eight scenic black / white photographic prints of Orbost and surrounding tourist areas.Photographs like these allowed tourists to send many images of their holiday destination or hometown in the one small package. Fred Murray opened Murray Studios in Gympie in 1906. The postcard and souvenir production side of the business initially covered Gympie and surrounding regions, but Murray expanded the business to include North Queensland, NSW and even Adelaide. It was opened under a separate name, Murray Views, in 1929. Methodist societies and churches issued quarterly tickets (or class tickets or love feast tickets) as a way to identify members of good standing in the society or church. Tickets also became a way of offering admission to the love feast, or Agape, which was a service around a shared meal, but distinct from the Lord’s Supper. Quarterly tickets typically included the member’s name, the minister’s name, the date, as well as a Scriptural text. The practice of issuing quarterly tickets began in the mid-eighteenth century with John Wesley and continued in many Methodist organizations throughout the nineteenth century.
