This portrait is of Dr Walter Thompson, former President of ANZCA from 2006 - 2008 was commissioned by ANZCA to commemorate Dr Thompson's presidential term. The painting was unveiled on 17 April 2009. The artist Ben Joel is a Western Australian artist, well known for his commissioned portraits and contemporary artworks in most media. Dale HICKEY (31 July 1937- ) Born Melbourne, Victoria' Dale Hickey studied design and illustration at Swinburne Technical College, Melbourne, graduating in 1957. In 1968, his work was exhibited in the inaugural exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria’s Southbank site, The Field, which showcased Australian paintings, sculpture and conceptual works. A large-scale retrospective of his work was held at Ballarat Fine Art Gallery in 1988. More recently, in 2008, The Ian Potter Museum of Art, University of Melbourne presented Dale Hickey: Life in a Box, which brought together 36 key works from the artist’s 40 year career. Dale Hickey lives and works in Melbourne. This item is part of the Federation University Art Collection. The Art Collection features over 1000 works and was listed as a 'Ballarat Treasure' in 2007.'Apple' by Dale Hickey was part of the 'Imaging the Apple' travelling exhibition which toured from 2004 to 2005. Four books of stubs. Originally the books had 20 right to occupy residence area forms. The stubs record the date of issue, the replacing right No., the fee paid, the receipt no. and a signature. only one of the books has the original form attached, two of the books have handwritten notes attached. One has a typewritten letter from a Mr. L. Gibney of the department of Crown lands and survey dated 24th July 1972 addressed to the district land officer, Bendigo. In the letter Mr. Gibney tells the officer in Bendigo that a pad containing 20 unnumbered residence area right forms D. Albert Thomas Holden was born in 1866 at Geelong, died in 1935 and is buried in Boroondara cemetery. From 1883-84 he taught in Kyneton and became a Methodist lay preacher. He graduated with a B.A. from Ormond College in 1888. He entered the Methodist ministry and worked in Burwood and at the Omeo Home Mission. During 1892 he toured Europe and the Middle East with Rev Bickford. In 1898 Holden was an army chaplain and served South Africa. He became Methodist Chaplain General in 1913. In 1904 Holden became Secretary of Methodist Home Missions and traveled throughout Australia. Holden was General Superintendent of the Methodist Church of Australasia from 1929 - 1932 and then President- General. Holden became a Freemason in 1898. In 2005, members of the PMH&PS undertook a study of the residents of the houses in a Port Melbourne street precinct from the 1880s to 1960. The area is bounded by Evans Street, the E side of Bridge Street, S side of Williamstown Road, Farrell Street both the E & W sides plus the section of Ross Street between Farrell and Bridge and the part of Derham Street between Farrell and Bridge. The resulting map and an interactive CD won the Best Community Research, Registers & Records project at the 2007 Victorian Community History Awards. The project was launched on the railway reserve near the corner of Evans & Farrell streets.
