Document. Malone Collection. White folded card with gold border top, bottom and right side. The front has been folded back and the left edge has been cut along and between the ivy leaves. A large gold ivy leaf in the centre has been cut out and extends past the fold. The ivy leaves and stems are bordered in gold. Over the large ivy leaf is a bunch of small blue flowers and one pink one. There are some small blue flowers along the bottom edge. When the card is opened, on the right side is another bunch of small blue flowers and one pink one with some buds. After a few weeks treatment by pouring in a dipper full of Scalebuoy Water daily the results of the process can be seen. Note the patches where the scale formations have been removed. Ballarat 20th May 1887. Some of the items in the Pethard Collection were donated by Barbara Bessley. The donor worked for the trustee for the Pethard Estate and to prevent the material being disposed of, she retained it. George Pethard, in his role as Mayor of Bendigo, was active in community organisations and was a member of a contingent which travelled overseas to promote Victoria.
