In 1912 there was a Military Relay Despatch Ride through South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. The purpose of the ride was to deliver a despatch in the quickest possible time by road through the three states mentioned. The ride was carried out under the auspices of the Dunlop Rubber Company and involved cyclists, motor cyclists and motorists.This is an original program of the event that was carried out in 1912. This pair of spectacles was prescribed and made in Warrnambool by brothers Fred and Geoff Bennet from about 1946 when they established their optometrist business at 192 Liebig Street Warrnambool. The business moved to 152 Liebig Street in 1988, by which time it had already changed hands to become McMahon and Owen Optometrists. Jayson Ward and Mathew Bucks purchased the business in 2012, then changed the name to Warrnambool Eyecare in 2016. They also own and practice at Portland Eyecare.This pair of glasses is significant as an example of locally owned and manufacture red eyewear from the mid 290th century. Spectacles, Pince-nez with oval shaped tinted lenses, metal bridge and rubber nose pads. Hard surfaced blue velvet lined spectacle case. Inscription on case. Made by F.G. & P..G. Helmet issued to John Charles Dean No 144278 RAAF. He enlisted on 26.8.43 aged 18 years and was a LAC in 78 Sqd RAAF. He was discharged from the RAAF on 13.3.46.British designed steel helmet painted a khaki colour. The chin strap is made of light khaki coloured cotton webbing and is secured with an adjustable brass buckle. Tube, Endotracheal, de Caux
Francis Percival de Caux invented this endotracheal tube which was devised for use during nitrous oxide/oxygen anaesthesia. Though he wasn't the first to use a two-tube method of anaesthesia, de Caux's invention was particularly effective; in 1930 he reported having given 20,868 nitrous oxide/oxygen anaesthetics in a four year period without a fatality. A long flexible metal tube formed from tightly wound metal with a small bulbous introducer at the distal end. The tube is mostly encased in a metal and rubber sheath.
