Record - vinyl based with paper card jacket and plastic record cover - 331/3 rpm microgroove vinyl record, or "LP", titled "Destination City". Jacket has a stylised view of the intersection of Flinders and Swanston Streets and Flinders St railway station with W2 233 in the top right hand corner. On the rear are extensive details of each of the 11 recording tracks featuring various trams around Melbourne. The vinyl disk itself has a blue label with the title, speed and side number. Produced and recorded by Ormond Slater and Ewen Cameron in 1969 with the assistance of the Australasian Post and the TMSV. Two copies held - 2nd copy added 18-9-15 - was on display in Main room until April 2015 - from Norm Cross. Alec Cameron was one of the young boys in this photograph. He was the son of Robert Pullar Cameron who was an early settler on the Orbost flats. Alec, (like his sisters, Flora and Penuel) had a beautiful singing voice. He married Annie Nixon and had children, Frank, Wilfred, Dorothy, Alice, Edie and Isobel.This item is a pictorial record of the social life of young people in Orbost in the first half of the 20th century. This book belonged to Roma Cameron. Roma Cameron was the daughter of Harry Purchase Cameron and Lilian Gladys (nee Harding). Roma married Ronald Richard Smithin 1944 and is the mother of Lorraine (Mrs Peter Coulton) and Margaret Smith. Harry's father, James Cameron, came to Bellagoogan on Majors Creek in 1882. Bellagoogan was on Majors Creek near Orbost and was the site of the first race course. Like many others at the time, the Camerons bred race horses.Harry died in 1964 aged 75. Roma was the youngest of three siblings: Jean (Mrs John Gavin (Jack) Ralston) and James (Jim) (m. Joan Hossack). This book as an example of school work in the early 20th century. It reflects the the way reading was taught, to young children in Victoria. The Cameron family is prominent in the Orbost district.
