Yields information about the despatch of a bogie tram to the Sydney Tramway Museum, being loaded in Wendouree Parade, outside the depot, using two cranes and the road being closed.Newspaper Clipping from the Courier, 28 September 1971, titled "Tram No 37 off to Sydney". Features a photo of Bogie tram No. 37 being lifted by two cranes in Wendouree Parade outside the tram depot. Notes that the tram is being taken to Sydney, for the "South Pacific Electric Traction Association Museum". Gives a history of its operation in four cities. Newspaper Clipping from The Courier, October 1971, titled "Tram 42 Retires as a Church Kindergarten", with a photo of tram No. 42 being manoeuvred into the Zion Congregational Church yard in Sebastopol on a low loader, with the church in the background. Notes that tram was delivered by SEC workmen and that the foundations had been prepared for several weeks prior to delivery. People mentioned in the story are Rev Syd Munn, C. Merrett, SEC I. Pellas and SEC works superintendent Mr. W. Trusler. Noted that the bogies, motor and "trolley arms" had gone to the Western Australian Electric Transport Association. See Reg. Created for the purpose of bomb delivery from B-24 Liberator aircraft. The item was originally fitted to RAAF Liberator 72-176. During salvage and disposal operations it was damaged losing 50% of the body. The item was used as a reference to manufacture a complete example.An example of late 1930's engineering practice in an endeavour to modernise aircraft technology.The item has 50% of it's body missing.Quadrant base and operative lever.Quarter circle casting with operating handle attached,base is squared off with rivets attaching both parts.Bomb doors, 32-F-7523 (part number) three times, closed, open, safe, select. -
