Yearn Hunger Thirst Always on the edge of oblivion, craving sustenance in a dry land. McLean and Kennedy have collected dry materials: hollow pipes, old hoses and worn metal hose fittings. The Hole Index is a series of sixty slashes, gashes, fissures, rips and tears. Images are transferred onto canvas by a process of spray painting through muslin. The index forms a menu of different holes for an imaginary computer programme. Working with the index I, enlarged, cropped, coloured and elongated to form individual works of which this is one.

On 14 September 2017, the Mission was invited to the Government House to meet Linda Dessau. On the occasion, the Board Committee presented the Governor with one of the framed Harbour Hilghts Guild badges (2 of 20). As the first female Governor of Victoria, she was a Patron of the Mission. Shows Glenferrie Road, near Linda St looking south, c1915 prior to the construction of the Railway overpass at Glenferrie Railway Station with H class tram 58 in the view. The tram line was constructed in 1913. It would appear that the level crossing gates are closed in the photograph. The building on the right-hand side by the horse-drawn cart was an ANZ bank until 2021. The closer building, a theatre (The Palace) has since been demolished and is now a Coles Supermarket. The level crossing was replaced with an overbridge in April 1916. The church in the background is the Immaculate Conception Church, without the spires - built after WW1. His childhood interest in horses began with the draft horses kept at the bluestone stable and barn at Darlingsford. When the stables were empty in the late 1980s visit, he vividly recalled the names of the horses he had handled in his youth.
