Originally a block of 50 ...Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented.Block with 4 remaining ticket - orange ink on off white paper, denomination 3d, overprinted "Concession" in black, numbered A010646 - 49, headed State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Provincial Tramways. Originally a block of 50 tickets been stapled onto an off white, ruled on one side cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and an green coloured cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket. The ticket price is in orange ink while the ticket number itself is in black ink. On rear in orange ink is a diagonal criss cross or tartan pattern. See also Reg Item 3989 for another 2d Concession - block of 100 tickets. Note: "L.P.L." in bottom right hand corner of ticket. See Alan Bradley's notes "Fares in Ballarat" On the inside of the cardboard back are notes re City, Junc and To columns using the ruling on the ticket and notes. Originally a block of 100 tickets been stapled onto an off white cardboard back, ruled on one side with a heavy metal staple and a off white coloured cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket. The ticket price is in red ink while the ticket number itself and prefix is in black ink. On rear in red ink is a diagonal criss cross or tartan pattern. Set of two Manila Adult Tourist tickets, 1/- Card Ticket No Ba 143049 and Ba 143797. Useable on all provincial tramways. Card originally preprinted for years 1943 to 1945 and dates for Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong, then overprinted for the years 1947, 1948 and 1948, with red lines through the original years. Allowed a return trip on all routes. .1 - Was punched for use on Wednesday, 2 Jan (?) 1947 in Bendigo. Appears to have been used for three trips. .2 - punched for Tuesday 13 Jan 1948 in Bendigo. Electricity State Electricity Commission of Victoria Provincial ...Sandhurst and Electric Tramways Company introduced the first trams to Bendigo in June 1890. These were battery operated trams but it soon became obvious that the battery life was unable to copy with Bendigo's hilly terrain. The trams were converted to steam in 1892. In 1899 the tramways were sold to the Electric Supply Company of Victoria and in 1903 the trams were converted to electricity. After WW1 the SEC was formed and took over the running of the trams. With the increased usage of cars, patronage of the trams began to drop off after WW2. In 1972 the tramways closed as a commuter service. The Bendigo trust then restored trams and infrastructure and began the tourist/talking trams.State Electricity Commission of Victoria Provincial Tramways: 2 x single parcel tickets Nos 024004 and 024005, 1 x single Scholars Monthly ticket, 1 x single Blind persons pass, 1 x transfer with image of by holding sign with quote "Electricity makes life easier!". Used as a SEC tramways employees pass. Demonstrates the badge used by the SEC for free travel on the trams.Stamped enameled round brass piece with an area of solder on the rear indicating where a retaining ring had been placed after the original ring at the top has been broken off. Has the SEC logo in the centre, organisational name (State Electricity Commission of Victoria) in white enamelled and outer ring the words "Electricity Supply Department, Provincial Tramways". This was in blue enamel. Badge - SEC pass - set of 27, AMOR, c1950?
Set of 27 Stamped enamelled round brass pieces with a hole stamped at the top and ring placed through. Used as a SEC tramways employees pass for either all Provincial tramways, Ballarat or Bendigo only. All badges have the SEC logo in the centre, organisational name (State Electricity Commission of Victoria) in white enamel and outer ring the words "Electricity Supply Department, Provincial Tramways", or "Electric Tramways Ballarat" or "Electric Tramways Bendigo". This is in blue enamel. On the rear are stamped numbers and manufacturers name - "AMOR" or "AMOR MELB" or "STOKES & SONS MELBOURNE" in the bottom portion of the pass. Items .1 -> .10, .12, .13 individually tagged.
