Photo shows Q class tram No. 144 picking up a passenger at the Hawthorn Road stop in Dandenong Road. The tram has the destination of Brighton Cemetery with a sign under the driver's window, "via Windsor". The Conductor can be seen leaning out from the rear of the tram. A lady is possibly waiting for the next service. On the other side are 8 people at a tram stop waiting shelter. Many are dressed in summer clothing, with some looking at the photographer; most likely the photo is taken from the top of an overhead tower wagon. There is a sign stating "This road for tram traffic only". In the left-hand foreground is a light fitting with a coloured lens showing the it is a tram stop.
