A3 size photo copy enlargement of a photograph of an ESCo tramcar on a property near Ballarat. Was printed in the Souvenir Supplement Issue of the closure of the Ballarat Tramways - see Reg item 269. The caption for the photograph in this article gave the tram number as No. 16. Was made for the first depot display board on ESCo No. 12, c Nov. 1993 from newspaper cutting loaned by Alan Bradley. Negative (120) of a W2 descending the Collins St hill to Swanston St, early to mid 1930's. Tram does not appear to have been fitted with a route number box. The Manchester Unity Building was completed during 1932. Tram number appears to be 394. This was a Kew tram at the time and has the appropriate roof, but it could be another tram. Yields information about the appearance and the use of ESCo tram 12 in Victoria St and has a strong association with those photographed on the steps of the tram.Digital Copy of a photograph purchased by David Critchley from E-bay, of ESCo No. 12 in Victoria St Ballarat, c1925, possibly at the King St loop. Tram has the destination of Orphanage, a Viceroy Tea advertisement, a Coliseum roof advert and an "Pay as You Leave" sign. Note the positioning of the tram number on the route footsteps. The tram still has track brakes and the footstep boards are yet to be cut back or shortened. Tram has four men in suits standing on the running board with the driver or motorman in the doorway of the tram as well. Black and white photograph of Freight Car 206 at Preston Workshops. This tram began as one of 10 single truck saloon trams built by J.G. Brill & Co., USA and assembled by Duncan and Fraser, Adelaide. It entered service for the NMETL as tram number 5 on 13/10/1906. It was transferred to MMTB and renumbered as U class tram 206 on 1/8/1922. It was withdrawn from service in 1938 and was converted to a freight car. The tram commenced life with the Hawthorn Tramway Trust as their No. 8. Became No. 114 when the MMTB took over, sold to the SEC in 1931 and became Bendigo No. 3. It was donated to the AETA in 1956 and subsequently rebuilt as HTT 8. The tram is on display at the Melbourne Tram Museum Hawthorn. See reference for further details. In 1938, the SEC Ballarat decoarated a tram with paper flowers for the Floral Festival. Has four ladies dressed in matching clothes standing inside the tram and four inside the doorways. Photographed in Wendouree Parade with Lake Wendouree in the background. The story is that it rained on the day and the ink in the dresses ran. Cardboard, punched out, folding model tram - Melbourne A class tram, numbered 262. Does not have a pantograph attachment. Gives details of the A class trams on the left hand side and notes that tram 246 was the first with the Yarra livery (1/3/2000) and that it was blue and green to represent the blue of Port Phillip Bay and the green of Melbourne's many parks.
