This part and his records are confusing. Embarks 22.12.1914 (does not state where to) Embark 9.7.1915 from Southampton and disembarks at Rouen France 10.7.1915. He marries Louisa Jane Hobbs in England on 5.1 1916. ( Australian Divisions have not arrived in France at this time) from then on it states he transfers to the 1st Aust Div Supply Column then later No 1 Aust Div Motor Transport Coy. JOHM ADAMS was President of the Bendigo RSL from 1917 - 1921. He was one of the movers and mainstays in the formation of the Bendigo Sub Branch. It was also stated that his determination had carried into effect the plans for the "Soldiers Memorial Institute" Pall Mall Bendigo. John Adams had extensive service pre WW1 with Bendigo Volunteer Rifles,4th Militia BN, Victorian Cavalry,5th Militia and the 67th Bn. Appointed Lieutenant 25.11.1900, Capt 1.7.1907, Major 16.4.1913. He applied for a Commission in the AIF on 26.11.1914 and embarked on 22.12.1914 with the 14th BN for Gallipoli Campaign, WIA 3.5.1915, apon return to duty he took command of the 14th Bn for a period until invalided to England with chest and cardiac problems. He returned to Aust in Feb 1916 and his appointment was terminated on 22.4.1916. Post War with a change in retirement age he was invited to recommence service with the temporary rank of Lt Col to Command the 38th Bn when it returned to Aust in 1919. He retired on March 1st 1920 age 57. Framed photograph, timber brown colour with gold edging. George Robert Wheeler was elected to the Committee of the Bendigo RSL Branch in 1942. he served on Committee to 1949 then a year in 1951, a total of 9 years. During those years he was Treasurer for the years 1947/48 & 49. George enlisted on 13.3.1917 as part of the July Reinforcements and posted to Medical Corp No 18465. Pre embarkation he had postings with Clearing Hospital Broadmeadows, No 11 General Hospital, AMC Bendigo, Clearing Hospital Seymour. Embarked 21.11.1917 and disembarked at Australia Camp Suez 15.12.1917 then embarked for Alexandria camp on 31.12.1917 disembarking on 2.1.1918. Embarked for England 24.1.1918. On 23.2.1918 he was hospitalised with Perineal Abcess, later with Influenza on 14.3.1918 and then "Tubercle Lung" and returned to Australia on 12.5.1918. On arrival he was admitted to No 5 Aust General Hospital on 16.7.1918 then the Military Sanitorium 22.7.1918.
