Tool - Harris Collection: Pitchfork
Jonathan Harris operated a winery on the banks of the Axe Creek, Axedale in the 1850s.A pitchfork with three Metal prongs that are one centimeter diameter at the top of the handle and taper to a point, the two outside ones are 34 centimetres long and are 16 centimetres apart they curve to the top of the handle, the middle one is 30 centimetres long and is joined the other two at the top of the handle. The three prongs curve away from the handle to 14 centimetres from the line of the handle. The wooden handle is four centimetres diameter at its widest and tapers to three centimetres, it is135 centimetres long. Part of the Harris Collection.harris collection, pitchfork -

Jonathan Harris operated a winery on the banks of the Axe Creek, Axedale in the 1850s. A metal rod one centimetre diameter 61 centimetres long. On one end six centimetres is folded back to form a handle. On the other end 14 centimetres is flattened to a width of two centimetres and half a centimetre thick, the last six centimetres is bent to 90 degrees and has a one centimetre square hole in it. Domestic object - Harris Collection: Wash Tub
Jonathan Harris operated a winery on the banks of the Axe Creek, Axedale in the 1850s An oval metal wash tub. The base has a four centmetres metal band around it that extends two and a half centimetres below the bottom of the tub. The bottom of the tub is an oval 54 centimetres long and 41 centimeters wide. The wall is 32 centimetres high with rolled rim half a centimetre wide on the top, it's made in two pieces that are folded together at each end. The top of the tub is an oval 70 centimetres long and 51 centimetres wide. There are identical metal handles at the top of the tub at each end, they are made of a one centimetre diameter metal rode, they have a nine centimetres long grip, a four centimetre piece at right angles on each end and a two centimetre long piece at the opposite right angle on the end which is inserted into a two centimetre loop that's attached to the tub. Jonathan Harris operated a winery on the banks of the Axe Creek, Axedale in the 1850s.A large metal rake with a wooden handle. The head 67 centimetres across two centimetres wide and one centimetre wide. attached to it are 12 square tines that are one centimetre square, tapering to half a centimetre and are five centimetres long. It has some yellow paint on it. The wooden handle is 144 centimetres long and three centimetres diameter. Two thin strips of two centimetre wide thick wire have been added. Document. Handwritten letter to George and Dave Harris of Axedale from Walter Ching informing them of the death of their sister Laura, dated October 16th 1914. Cream paper with black border. Blue envelope addressed to ''Mr Dave and George Harris, Axedale. Letter written from Dobie, near Ararat, where Ching family had moved from Axedale. Walter Ching's parents,Walter William and Harriet Ching are buried in the Bendigo Cemetery, MON H6. Walter Ching was killed in Action in WW1- 8.10.1917, aged 21. No known grave.
