White China milk jug with MMTB logo with a small handle. Made from China clay, glazed and vitrified or fired. Has a small formed spout, MMTB logo in dark green. On the underside has the words "Grindley Hotel Ware, England, Vitrified, Loftus Moran Pty Ltd, Melbourne. Patent. Has a crown or manufacturers mark on the top of the lettering. Possibly made for use at the Wattle Park chalet or head office. http://www.thepotteries.org/mark/g/grindley.htm - accessed 14-08-2014 indicates it was the mark used by the company from 1946. Metal based match box holder, formed from tin plated steel sheet, folded around all edges to include a printed plastic cover marked "Souvenir of Wattle Park, Melbourne Vic.", including on the sides an image of the Chalet and on reverse, contact phone number (WX1322), and what the venue would cater for. Has a note that is was open on Sundays and Holidays as well. Not known when made or used or who by. Phone numbers with alphanumeric numbers phased out during the late 1950's. Timetable printed on off white paper, folded into 9, titled "Timetable of first and last trams and buses also All-night and Sunday morning services", setting out services, fares, city concession fares, all night fares, fare sections, and that strips of 2d and 3d tickets could be bought from conductors. Has a "advertisement" for shoppers travelling in comfort between 930 and 430, dinner and afternoon tea at the Wattle Park Chalet and Family excursion tickets to the Beaches and Wattle Park - 2/6. Dated January 1946. Printed by Sands and McDougall - has their logo printed on the middle section of the outside fold. Bob Hymans Collection Bob (Herman) Hymans (a former member of the Royal Netherlands Navy was born in Bloemendaal, Holland on 30th September 1922. During World War II he fought against the Japanese in the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) and was imprisoned in Changi and on the Burma Railway. After gaining qualifications as a Ski Instructor, Bob arrived in Falls Creek in May 1950. Working as an Instructor and Supervisor at Bogong Lodge, Bob decided his future was in accommodation. He was successful in negotiating an indenture for land from the State Electricity Commission (SEC). It took Bob two years to build his Grande Coeur Chalet but, tragically, it was burned down in August 1961. Bob also built the first Chairlift in Australia. This was a single chairlift and the structure was built from wooden electricity poles. He was constantly full of new ideas and proposals for the village. Bob Hymans died on 7th July 2007. This Collection of documents and letters tells the story of Bob’s endeavours to develop Falls Creek into the ski village it is today.This document is significant because it documents the Rules of Falls Creek Tourist Area Regulations 1959.A letter from the Falls Creek Tourist Area Management Committee referring to his request to build a new access road to his Grand Coeur Chalet.
