A memorial rock was installed in the grounds of the army depot at Sisley Avenue in 2003 to commemorate the Charge at the Ney undertaken on 7 August 1915. When Victorian Mounted Rifles departed the depot there was uncertainty as to its future so the plaque was removed and lodged with the museum. Significant Historical. The Australian Light Horse was a skilled formation of mounted infantry of the Australian Imperial Force. (A.I.F.)
