Sent as a Christmas card by T. & G. Thornton in 1941.A very small photograph which has been made into a plain, beige-coloured card with cut decorative edge and printed borders around edge of card and edge of photograph. The photograph shows Linton Post Office and Bank of New South Wales. A car (1940s or 1950s Holden?) is parked in Sussex Street outside the bank building. The words "A View at Linton" are printed on the front of the card underneath the photograph. A small white envelope addressed to Mr. N.G. Chancellor, Girgarre. It contains two items - a Christmas card and a Bendigo 'Advertiser' newspaper article. The card is a Masonic Lodge card from Bro. N.H. Moller, Master, The Lauderdale Lodge, No. 361 Girgarre, XMAS, 1925. The front of the card has a Lodge symbol and it also has a blue tassel. Also enclosed is an item titled 'Fathers' Association Annual Meeting.' In the body of the article is a recommendation to make Mr. N.G. Christmas card made from white stippled cardboard with a serrated edge, folded centrally with a photo of Rx and R class locomotives on the front of the Adelaide to Melbourne Express at Adelaide Railway Station c1900. The train later became known as The Overland. The first two carriages are Mansard Roofed Carriages. The photo has been printed as an illustration and then glued to the front of the card. On the inside of the card is a Greetings message from the Council and Members of the South Australian Division of the Australian Railway Historical Society. See December 1999 issue of Newsrail for some information about the locomotives and carriages. Year not known, probably late 1960's.
