Clothing - GIRL'S WHITE LONG SLEEVED WAISTED LINEN JACKET
Clothing. Girl's white long sleeved waisted linen jacket. Front opening jacket with 4 cm band from shoulder to waist forming V shaped neckline. Bodice of jacket has 8 cm vertical lace inserts next to the edge of the bands, continuing over the shoulders and down the back of the bodice to the waist. A 16 cm lace insert runs at right angles to the bodice inserts along the top of the kimono cut long sleeves. The sleeves have an 8.5 cm turned back fabric cuff. From the waistline is an ungathered skirt widening slightly at the hem. Clothing - WOMAN'S BLACK WAIST LENGTH LONG SLEEVED SILK BLOUSE
Clothing. Woman's black waist length long sleeved silk blouse. Wide scooped neckline with fold over collar (10 cm) with rounded corners. Kimono cut sleeves with geometric pattern of black beading at wrist (5 cm wide). Front of bodice has crossover section with fastening across left shoulder. Front section has 30 cm panel of black beading geometric pattern. Waist is gathered by a cotton tape casing 2.5 cm above the hem. The front opening is on the LHS from shoulder to waist with eight metal hooks and cotton loops. Opening across the left shoulder is fastened with four hooks and loops and one press-stud. Clothing - WOMAN'S CREAM COLOURED LONG SLEEVED SILK BODICE
Clothing.Woman's cream coloured long sleeved silk bodice. High round neckline with 4 cm stand up collar. Semi-circular yoke front and back (13cm radius). Collar and yoke have embroidered net over silk fabric. Kimono cut long sleeves have cuffs of embroidered net over silk from shoulder to wrist along top of sleeve (33cm X 4 cm). Sleeves and front of bodice have all over vertical pin tucks. The front of the bodice has cotton tape ties stitched across from centre front to side seams at waist level gathering the fabric to form a peplum effect at the front. The tails of the cotton tapes tie across the back from the side seams. Full length front opening fastened with nine press-studs between collar and waist and a metal hook and eye at the waist. Clothing - BLACK SILK-SATIN DRESS W/LACE,CUFFS,COLLAR,AND BODICE, BEADING, 1930's
Clothing. Black silk-satin fabric, mid-calf length dress, gathered from the waistline. A black, pleated cummerbund encircles the waist, fastening at the left side with three metal hooks, and hand stitched loops. Long set in sleeveshave a fine piping around the arm holes, and have a hand stitched neatening to finish. Shoulder seams are also piped. A long, narrow collar of lace, bound in 2.5 cm satin edging, attaches almost to the waistline-finishing just 9 cm above the waist. A 'bib front' attached at the right side to the bodice lining, attached to the eaistline, and closing on the left hand shoulder side, with metal hooks, and hand stitched loops. Bodice closes over the top with a metal press-stud. Front bodice has three tiny pleats on each shoulder seam and gathers into the waistline seam. Fine georgette fabric, backed with fine net fabric, is with tiny glass beads, and forms the top of the 'bib front'. Fine beading of tiny beads outlines the high round neck. Larger glass beads and silky lace trim the lower 'bib front'. The lg sleeves are gathered lightly at the shoulder, which isoutlined with fine piping. Cut as a straight piece of fabric, a rectangular 'wing effect' at the wrist, is lightly gathered into a 13 cm deep lace cuff, fastening with two metal hooks, and hand-stitched eyes. Clothing - WOMAN'S GREY, CREAM AND BLACK DRESS, 1940-50's
Clothing. Woman's grey, cream and black dress, with fine all-over swirling fern leaf design fabric.Eleven gores in skirt, home stitched dress. Long sleeves with a turn-back cuff 5cm wide at the peak, tapering to 2.5 cm wide at the 4 cm long opening, which fastens with one metal press-stud. The cuff is trimmed with decorative rouleau loops and coils, giving a flower petal effect. This effect is repeated on the peaks of the revere collar. A rouleau looped bow trims the centre front neckline. A shaped, peaked band on the front bodice extends from the side seams to give the effect of a belt at the back. This is stitched in place and trimmed with three rouleau coils-centre coil 2 cm in diameter, flanked by two coils 1-2 cm in diameter. Bodice has two bands of shirring at the front shoulder line giving a ruched effect 6.75 cm wide. Six gored skirt. A band 6.5 cm wide at centre front reducing to 3 cm wide at side seams, forms a midriff panel, before becoming a belt at the back fastening with two metal press-studs. Clothing. Blue linen dress, with a black and white floral design, possibly home stitched. V neckline at front, high rounded neckline at back. Curved yoke at front bodice. Centre opening, fastened with press-studs. Three decorative buttons are sewn diagonally, side by side on the outside of the opening (X2). Side fronts are gathered to the yoke, and have two darts on either side front, at the waistline. Short set in sleeves. Six panels form the A-line skirt. Some hand stitching on facings and hems. Clothing - GRAYDON COLLECTION: BODICE, 1870-1890
Clothing. Women's black embossed silk bodice. Part of two piece set (skirt 11410.2). Stand up lace collar (7 cm) boned on either side and edged with cream coloured lace. Collar fastened at centre back with three metal hooks and eyes. Front opening left of centre fastened with eight metal hooks and cotton loops and three across the left shoulder. Crossover section at front is pin tucked below the neckline and is tapered into the waist with centre pleats. Both sides of the crossover have decorative beading along the edges. The inner layer of the bodice is fastened at centre front with 15 metal hooks and eyes - alternating directions. The bodice is shaped from the waist with 9 boned casings. The back is shaped in at the waist finishing with two U shaped tails (11cm X 8cm) with V shaped tails (4 cm X 6cm) on either side. The waistline and tails are finished with a double row of decorative black beading. At the waistline at centre back are three metal hooks to attach bodice to skirt. Long sleeves are gathered at the shoulder, shaped at the elbow tapering to the wrist. Below the wrist is a two piece cuff (13cm X 7cm) with decorative black beading. The bodice is fully lined with light brown cotton fabric with grey splash pattern. Historical Notes: This bodice and skirt belonged to Elizabeth Graydon (nee Richardson). Clothing - MAGGIE BARBER COLLECTION: PETTICOAT, Late 1800's early 1900
Clothing. Very fine cotton petticoat with a fitted bodice, and dropped waistline. Back opening fastened with six 1 cm diameter buttons - three are fabric covered - (possibly the original buttons) and three plastic ''pearl'' buttons. The square neckline is outlined with 2.5 cm deep cotton lace inserted with 1.5 cm wide satin ribbon tied in a bow at the centre back and front. A row of very fine cotton lace, 1.5 cm deep then edges the square neckline, and also the arm holes. The back bodice is shaped in six panels, and front bodice is shaped in three panels. Three panels of embroidered cotton lace extends from the front neckline to the bustline. Outer panels are 5.5 cm wide and 7 cm long, while centre panel is 11 cm long and 5.5 cm wide. Each of these panels is outlined with the 2 cm wide cotton lace. From the dropped waistline, a 2.5 cm wide cotton insertion lace is threaded with 1.5 cm wide satin ribbon. The skirt is lined with fine cotton, finished at the lower edge with a 5 cm wide gathered cotton frill,and an over- frill, 14 cm deep of spotted tulle, edged with a 1.5 cm band of cotton lace. The outer skirt is spotted tulle in four bands- separated by four 3.5 cm wide bands of floral patterned lace. The hemline is trimmed with an eleven cm deep band of floral lace with a lower scalloped edge. The under-skirt is made with nine gored panels, and has a 5 cm deep lightly gathered frill at the hemline.costume, female underwear, petticoat. -

Clothing - MAGGIE BARBER COLLECTION: SILK AND NET BLOUSE, Late 1800's early 1900's
Clothing. Cream cotton net, woven with a goemetric pattern of filligree diamonds and tiny squares. The garment is fully lined with the most delicate, and sheer cream silk. A peplum ettect 7 cms deep, is finished with 9.5 cm deep peak at the centre front. Two metal hooks, and stitched eyes are the only fasteners, and are located at the waistline on the peplum seam. The curved front bodice is edged with a 3.5 cm deep frill of cream net, which is finished at the outer edge with two rows of stitching in a heavier weight thread. The front bodices are gathered at the centre front to the peplum. The long sleeves are finished at the wrist, with a double frill of plain tulle, also edged with a double row of stitching, in a heavier thread.costume, female, silk and net blouse -

... COSTUME Female Cream linen bodice Clothing. Very fine, cream linen ...Clothing. Very fine, cream linen bodice, with two vertical lace inserts either side of front opening, and three angled inserts from each side seam to the vertical insert. All inserts 2 cms wide. Short cap type sleeves are edged with the same lace, and band of this lace also outlines the wide square neckline. An insert between these bands has a fine, ribbon threaded through, which would act as a draw string. There is a 2.5 cm x 3 cm tab of linen at the centre back, but, no markings are evident. Three .9 cm pearl buttons, with three corresponding machine stitched button holes fasten the front. Clothing - MAGGIE BARBER COLLECTION: INFANTS NIGHTDRESS OR CHRISTENING GOWN, Late 1800's early 1900's
Clothing. High lace-edged round neckline - lace 1.3 cm deep. Long sleeves-gathered at the shoulder, and edged at the wrist with a 4.5 cm deep, gathered broderie anglais, featuring a shamrock, and flower design. The bodice has a centre front panel of lace. 9 cm wide at the neckline, tapering to 4 cm wide at the high waistline. This panel is edged with a 4 cm wide scalloped edge at the broiderie anglais trim. Three rows of pintucks, give a finish to the filigree braid, and the gathered broiderie frill. The long skirt is gathered at the lower bodice, and is 70 cms long. The lower 20.5 cms at the hemline has alternate bands of three pintucks, a 4 cm panel of flowers and cutwork broiderie, three pintucks, 4 cm panel panel of broiderie, three pintucks and a 4 cms deep machine stitched hem. Bodice has a back opening, with only one 1 cm diameter covered button evident, a cotton tape passes through a casing, and ties at the back waistline.costume, female, infants nightdress. -

Clothing. Rounded neckline at the back, deeply scooped at front. Back fastens with 12 metal hooks and eyes. Back hemline is slightly shirred to nip in the 67 cm waistline, which is peaked at the cntre front. ''Leg-o-mutton'' type sleeves are gathered at the shoulder, and above the elbow, and finished with an 8 cm band of beading and sequin embroidery and a 4.5 cm black silk frill, and a frill of black lace, with an exquisite fruit and floral woven pattern. The neckline is trimmed with a deep lace and sequined silk overlay. Three velvet ''rosettes'' trim the centre front of the overlay. Clothing - MAGGIE BARBER COLLECTION: CREAM SILK AND TULLE VICTORIAN EMBROIDERED BODICE, Layte 1800's - early 1900
Clothing. Beautiful deep cream silk bodice, fully lined with cream tulle/net. Elbow length sleeves have a semi-circle of embroidered silk, and an embroidered tulle ''flounce'', edged with cream cord - 17 cms long. The bodice has seven pin-tucks, angled from the shoulder to the waistline on each side of the front and back. Between the pin-tucks at centre front panel is an extensive cream silk, floral embroidery. A rounded neckline at front and back, is in-filled with embroidered tulle - small 1 cm diameter flowers, in a 3 cm diameter circle, defined by 12 small (3mm) embroidered circles. The tulle infill extends to a 7 cm high stand-up collar-supported by seven plastic ''bones''. The collar also features the same, circular, floral embroidery, and is also edged at the throat with cream cording. The bodice while in good condition, has been cut at the hemline, and a 10.5 cm strip of fabric has been added but unfinished. 18 metal hooks, and hand-stitched loops fasten the back of the bodice. Clothing - MAGGIE BARBER COLLECTION: FULL LENGTH LONG SLEEVED, BLACK BEADED DRESS, Late 1800's
Clothing. High stand-up embroidered net collar-close fitting to the neck, and fastening at the back with now 4 metal hooks and loops (one hook missing) and edged at top and bottom with tiny black beads. Five metal ''curved wires'' 7 cm long, are spaced around the up right ''collar'' (to hold in place). The embroidered net forms a V shaped panel at the centre front, and has 15 silk covered oval buttons .8 cm long, from throat to lower bodice. This panel is bordered by embroidered and beaded braid, 7 cm wide and giving a cross-over effect. Cotton tape inside waist 66 cm long fastens with two metal hooks and eyes.Under this lace cross-over, the bodice is shirred and pleated, to give fullness for movement. Pleats are ''caught-in'' at the waistline. An elbow length over-lay of sheer silk fabric, edged with the beaded braid. The sleeves are silk fabric to the elbow, and then narrow in to a three hook plackett at the wrist. This lower sleeve with a 2.5 cm lace frill, and a spotted tulle fabric, and ''dotted'' at the upper side with a double row of tiny black beads. Clothing. Curved ''cup-shape'' bodice, unlined, shirred slightly at the centre, and measuring 28 cm deep, from shoulder strap to midriff. A V shaped panel is inserted into the back bodice - 37 cm x 13.5 cm at the top to give a filled effect. Eight covered buttons and loops form the closure at the top of this panel (one button missing). Peach coloured nylon nightgown made by HANRO Bendigo. Bodice gathered at front onto a plaited band under the bust. On each side of the band three ties (102cm) extend from the ends of the plaited band. Shoulder straps made up of three pieces of nylon tubing attached back and front and plaited over each shoulder. Back of bodice in two pieces. Ankle length A line skirt. Colour at bodice is pale peach colour that darkens as it descends to the hem where it becomes a deep orange colour. Nightie given to donor by her grandmother who received the nightie as a prize at a Hanro meeting. Clothing - CREAM SATIN AND LACE WEDDING DRESS, 1850
High waisted bodice, with centre front seam, back opening fastened with metal press-studs, and finished on the right side, with ball-shaped pearl buttons sewn in pairs - six groups of two. A placket extends into the skirt at back, and is fastened with metal press-studs. Bodice is gathered onto skirt at waistline, and defined with a 1.5cm wide tape. An 8.5cm wide cotton lace frill is gathered around the high neckline. The wrist-length sleeves are an extension of the bodice and have a 4cm band, and 4cm wide gathered frill at the wrist. The sleeves are shaped from the high waistline, and also at the cuff edge. The skirt has an overlay of fine lace, made up of six X 17cm wide bands of lace, with a scalloped edge. No shoulder seams. Back opening and centre front seam indicate the cutting out layout of fabric. A one cm wide ribbon finishes the neckline, and the lace frill is hand stitched to the ribbon. Clothing - BURGANDY AND CREAM BODICE, 1850's
Burgundy and cream fine striped cotton, with a woven floral motif one cm in diameter. High 4.5cm stand-up burgundy collar, with a lace overlay. A pleated, and padded cap extends from the underarm seam at the front, over the shoulders, and partway over the back panel. Sleeves tight fitting at wrist, fasten with five buttons and button holes.(Four present on one sleeve, three on other sleeve).A fine burgundy pleated band finishes the sleeve at the wrist. Waistline is V pointed at front and back. At front pleats are stitched down 11-13cm long, then open up to form shaped, folded effect at the bust line. A burgundy yoke sits behind this effect, and extends over the shoulders, and high neckline. Clothing - FINE BLACK AND CREAM CHECK SILK FULL-LENGTH DRESS, 1850's
Very fine black and cream check silk lined in the bodice and sleeves with fine grey silk. Long sleeves are finished with a 4cm deep cuff, trimmed with a double row of cording, and a 1.5cm wide pleated frill. Two black shiny buttons trim the cuff(possibly plastic), which fastens with three press-studs. Waist is defined with one band of corded fabric. Two bands of cording outline the V neckline, which is also finished with a pleat frill. Cording, and three rows of hand - gathering outline a shaped frill at the hemline-alternately 31cm and 46cm deep. Seven black buttons fasten the front of the bodice. A placket extends into the skirt, fastened by four press-studs. Skirt has four knife pleats each side of the centre placket. Four knife pleats at each hemline, and six at centre back. ... COSTUME Female brown striped bodice with lace trim Long sleeved ...Long sleeved bodice of ''resilda'' fabric. Long sleeves gather into a 9cm deep cuff. Cuff has a 4cm wide band, which is embroidered with a silk braid and floral embroidery in dark olive and a deep cream. A 5cmdeep band of floral cotton lace, in deep cream, trimmed at the edge with the braiding, completes the cuff. The same lace forms a 6cm deep stand-up collar, which is edged in a narrow velvet band of brown velvet. The back and front yoke is edged on the sides, with the same embroidered net as the sleeves. Braiding in a loop design underlines the bib shape, and also decorates the shoulders and upper sleeves. Sleeves are joined at the elbows, and decorated with braid. Bodice is pleated at the lower centre front to from a V shaped fitted waist. Back has a double plackett opening-the inner having ten hook and eye fasteners, the outer having three hooks and three hand made loops (as well as nine hooks and hand made loops on the back lace yoke). This two piece outfit-bodice and skirt, was made by Laura's Mother iv 1908, and mostly by hand. She wore it to Mass in 1913. Cream coloured taffeta wedding dress. Square yoke at front with spiral bead pattern and tassels of bead across lower edge of yoke. V shaped neckline at back with yoke and tassels. Short sleeves of double layer of net embroidered with flowers. Front and back of bodice of embroidered net. Neckline lined with 10cm cotton lace. Bodice fully lined with cotton fabric. Two vertical side panels of 5cm silk lace from shoulder to waist with triangular shaped tabs (12cm) extending to side seams. 5cm silk lace with 12cm triangular tabs across the waist at back of bodice. Taffeta floor length skirt 5cm lace with 12 cm triangular tabs extends from waist on LHS down to 3cm above hemline and extends across the front in a U shape to side on RHS and then across the back of the skirt in a U shape to the LHS. Triangular insert of embroidered net (45cm at hem) on LHS, from hem to 42 cm above hem. Centre back opening from neckline(25cm) fastened with seven metal hooks and eyes. Satin fabric belt with horizontal pin rtucks fastened with two metal hooks and eyes. Fabric circular buckle (5cm diameter). Lower edge of skirt lined with cotton fabric (14 cm wide). Clothing. Long pointed sleeves, fastened with one press-stud at the wrist. Full circular skirt, lined with cream, synthetic lace type fabric. Fabric of the gown is a small floral type design,in a corded style, on a fine net backing. Sleeves are not lined. Back upper bodice has a lining in a double thread net. The sweetheart neckline is edged with a fine tulle frill. Bustline panels gathered top and bottom, and joins a peaked midriff panel, 15.5 cm deep at the centre bustline. Clothing, White cotton infant's christening gown. High round neck. Front and back bodice. Front of bodice has a V shaped centre lace insert dropping 2 cm below waist. Neckline edged with gathered lace. Neckline and waist have casings with cotton tape ties tied at back opening 29 cm. Long sleeves with decorative cord at wrist and edged with 1 cm lace at hem. Lace cap sleeves overlay long sleeves. Tightly gathered skirt at waist. Centre front of christening gown has inverted V shaped insert with floral embroidered pattern in lower section.
