Document - DUGAL MACDOUGALL BIOGRAPHY
Dugal MacDougall was born in Scotland and came to Victoria in 1852. He was initially a farmer at Kyneton and in 1855 he purchased a produce store in Golden Square but in 1859 he turned to mining. In 1861 he married Mary Ann Brocklebank (1843-1891). In 1867 he was elected to the Sutton Ward of the Sandhurst Council but resigned from this position to become the Bendigo Town Clerk, a position he held until his death in 1879. Whilst a member of the council he served as the mayor 1871-1873.Two pages letter addressed to Kay MacGregor from Geoff Crossley re. Donation of commemorative spade.
