At the front of the minutes is an index of names for some of the people referred to in the minutes of the Finance/Executive Commitees, with relevant page numbers. Held at the office of the Association for the Advancement of the Blind, these minutes contain information on bank balances, corerspondence received and replied to, receipts expenditure, accounts and other business discussed. This included concerts, applications for pensions and a request by the General Committee to fund a talking book machine for the Kooyong Club House, but that "Sir Ian Fraser, in the House of Commons, had said that talking books were still in the experimental stage" (p172). 1 paper registerassociation for the advancement of the blind -

These minutes contain information on attendees, meeting chairs, apologies, matters arising out of minutes, correspondence, subscriptions, donations and general business. Reports are also included from Honorary Treasurer, Finance, Corporate Services, Accommodation Services, Rehabilitation, Library Services, Marketing, Mitchell Manufacturing, Administration Support, Information Technology and Personnel. 6/9/1993 The General Manager reported on the Strategic Overview and Implementation Plan. The core services would be Library Services, Rehabilitation Services and Technology Services. RBS would withdraw from providing Mobility Services and Talking Magazines unless by contract. In both cases there was existing services of a comparable standard and hence clients would not be adversely affected. RBS reduce its staff by 38 positions. 25/11/1996 Council members agreed that the Library Services Department be merged into the Information Technology Services Department. 28/1/1997 The CEO stated an opportunity for RBS to become a member of an international consortium known as DAISY (Digital Accessible Information SYtem). Whose main goal is establish a World Standard Digital Talking Book System for people who are blind and vision impaired. 1/4/1997 it was reported there are now 6 agencies including RBS comprising the Australia & New Zealand Group, as member of the DAISY consortium. What seems to be the final meeting of the committee formed to publish a biography of Sir Stanley Savige, including a statement of receipts and payments. 3000 copies of the book were accounted for, including 2237 actual sales. A balance of 489 pounds and twopence was authorised to be handed over to the Hon. Treasurer of the Sir Stanley Savige Fund. This is a set of 12 photographs of 4th Field Survey Squadron’s CPL John Ratcliffe setting a world record for an exercise routine comprising push-ups, sit-ups and double back-arches at Keswick Barracks, Adelaide in November 1986. A newspaper article of unknown origin titled “John sets world’s best time in routine” was published reporting the achievement. The article reported: “Corporal John Ratcliffe has smashed his personal best time, his greatest expectations and the 16-year-old Australian record for a push-up, sit-up and double back-arch routine. Corporal Ratcliffe, 37, set a world record by doing 1232 push-ups (clapping his chest with his hands between each one), 1936 back-arches and 440 sit-ups in one hour, 16 minutes and 29 seconds yesterday. Officials representing the Guinness Book of Records were present and passed his effort. The record was achieved by repeating a set of 14 push-ups, 22 double back-arches and 5 sit-ups, 88 times. The Australian record for the same routine was set in 1970 in the time of 1 hour 41 minutes. CPL Ratcliffe beat his personal best time by 13 minutes. “I could not do it without them” CPL Ratcliffe said of the crowd. Nearing the end of the routine when he was tiring, the crowd of more than 100 clapped and chanted encouragement. CPL Ratcliffe, who works in the Army’s surveying department, said the most important aspect of the exercise was raising money for Legacy, not getting his name in the record books.” This achievement was also reported in the Army Newspaper dated 11th Dec 1986. Both books at the top of the spine have a red label with gold lettering Minute Book 1. has brown marbled end papers with blue tape along the spine for added strength inside both covers. Book 2. has burgundy marbled end papers with green tape along the spine for added strength inside both covers. Both books have coloured marbled edges to the pages. These blank books were used by 1. Minute Book of the Berry Growers Section Victorian Fruit Growers Central Association. 2. Minute Book of the United Berry Growers Association of Victoria. Minutes of the first meeting of Book 1. were taken 1st July 1921 in Lilydale and the last minutes were on 14.8.1929. The book is filled with Minutes of meetings. 2. Minute Book of the United Berry Growers Association of Victoria. Minutes of the first meeting of Book 2. were taken on Wed August 14th at 8pm 1929 in the Silvan Hall and the last minutes were on 26.7. 1945. The book is filled with Minutes of meetings. 170 out of 190 pages used. At the back is a handwritten note on faded and foxed lined paper for the 25th Report for the Association which did not have a formal page entry between the 24th and 26th and final entry. Bendigo Concert Orchestra played in 1944. Jean Boulton and Myrtle Robbins were early members with Ruth Weldon. Earlier there was a Railway institute Orchestra. The Orchestra met in various venues finally in St Mary's Hall where they began as the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra. Conductors remembered were Oscar Flight(?) Gwen Bowles, Max O'Loughlin. The Orchestra supported the Operatic Society see two books by Merle Welch. The Ocean Grove RVIB Auxiliary formed on July 31, 1944. This collection of papers includes the minute books from 1944 until 2002 and printed minutes from 2002 to the conclusion of the Auxiliiary in 2004. The papers include newspaper clippings, correspondence, secretary and annual reports, 1999-2005 syllabus (list of events), lists of office bearers and balance sheets. A signboard for the Auxiliary's kiosk in 1951, a poem from the last President Dot Whitehead and the acknowledgement letter from RVIB regarding the Auxiliary's final donation and decision to conclude are also here.
