Accessory - Field Notebook Holder
Field notebook holders were not part of kit issue. This holder would have been purchased at a military store for the purpose of carrying personal documentation on the person. Major Damien Batty served in Afghanistan in 2011-2012 with the Bravo Commando Company Group, 2nd Commando Regiment in Uruzgan. The Commandos took part in 20 rotations with the Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) between 2007 and 2012. During this time they undertook significant combat operations, and were awarded for its actions, the regiment was collectively awarded the Unit Citation for Gallantry and the Meritorious Unit Citation.Field notebook holder in Disruptive Pattern Camouflage Uniform (DPCU) fabric with three compartments belonging to Major Damien Batty whilst serving with the United Nations in Afghanistan. On the front right side of the top compartment, there is an embroidered Tasmanian Tiger. Book - 1859 Almanac
Richard Walter, butcher, operated a butchery in Bridge St., Bendigo. The shop was part of the Australian Hotel. It was operating in 1857 when Walter advertised for a sausage maker. In 1863 the business was sold to Ceber and Robertson. At this time he sold five lots including, land at California Gully, 32 acres at Ellesmere, the Australia Hotel including a coopers, chemist and stables all leased to reliable tenants. In 1865 he was granted 50 square miles south of Charleville, near Murweh on the Warrego River. It was here that he died 24/8/1869 when he accidentally fell into the river and drowned.Small notebook (initial pages have been removed) with 1859 Almanac on internal covers. Has a strong association with tram crews and the rosters crew workings, possibly inspector Dave Kellett in Ballarat. Prepared by crews from sheets to enable them to know what service times to run, meal times, details of crew changes etc, based on their allocated shift or run from the roster.Set of two Notebooks used to record rosters/ runs for crews for the March 1970 roster Ballarat on Saturdays. .1 - Pocket Notebook - green cover, faint ruled, up to 100 pages per book, cloth bound at the top, contained within a black plastic notebook holder/folder. A Calendar for 1970/1971 is positioned on the inside within a clear plastic sheet. The Notebook is headed "Saturdays Roster" .2 - Pocket Notebook as above, but not within folder, head "Saturdays Roster" - contents duplicate of the above times. Has the hand written details of each SEC Ballarat runs, Saturdays runs, - giving sign on times, notes, timetables, which run taken or taken by, meal times, notes with regard to special instructions, finish times and notes. The 1889 London Dock Strike grew from unrest about poor living conditions as a result of the casualised labour force. Money raised across Australia (30,000 pounds) helped to support striking workers to continue the action and feed their families.
