3293.1 - Grey folder, with a two prong clip, marked ""Rosters both sides, containing a set of 29 sheets, typed on foolscap paper, giving the Weekdays, Saturday and Sunday tables or runs for the SEC Ballarat trams on the SEC Ballarat Tramway system until the period before closure. Gives details of 38 tables or runs, numbered from 1 Run to 38 Run. Each sheet headed "Weekday", three runs per sheet. Saturdays - 1 to 34, Sunday - 1 to 10. Each sheet has in the top right hand corner LJD/3/70. Time table operated until the commencement of closure of the system. All sheets imaged and are: Monday to Friday Runs 1- 3 4-6 7-9 10-12 13-15 16-18 19-21 22-24 25-28 29-30 31-33 34-36 37 and 38 Saturday Runs 1- 3 4-6 7-9 10-12 13-15 16-18 19-21 22-24 25-28 29-30 31-33 34 Sunday Runs 1- 3 4-6 7-9 10 Each run details where the driver/conductor would sign on, time, the trips, meal breaks, finish time and the total time of the shift. Set of 10 Agfa Plastic mounted slides - from the Eldon Hogan collection - possibly on an ARE Bendigo tours - mid 1960's (black destination rolls) and late 1960's or early 1970's. Scanned on the Canon scanner at the depot 15/12/1971 at the time of the installation of the scanner. .1 - No. 24 in bound along High St Bendigo with the discovery of gold monument in the foreground, Golden Sq route. .2 - ditto .3 - No. 26 outbound at the above location. .4 - No. 24 at the corner of Short St and High St, with the Technical college building? in the background. .5 - No. 26 at ditto, outbound for Golden Square. .6 - No. 24, High St Bendigo, with the Cathedral in the background. document - Correspondence, Electric Supply Co. of Vic (ESCo), Apr. 1929
Set of two letters between Mr. P. J. Pringle of ESCo Ballarat and Mr. D. Murdoch, General Manager of the TB Melbourne and a copy of the Victorian Government Gazette of Wed. 20/3/1929 regarding fares along the same routes that trams and buses travel. In Bendigo and Melbourne, the fare by bus was 1 penny more than the tram. 1976.1 - Victorian Government Gazette - No. 32 - 20/3/1929 - pages 1067 to 1124 - with page 1081 highlighted on the front cover in blue pencil and a ESCo date received stamp (16/4/1929) on the front cover. Page 1081 details the City of Bendigo's By- Laws and Regulations No. 58, pursuant to the Urban and Country Act of 1927, relating to Motor Omnibuses. Details the requirements of bus owners in the Bendigo district, definitions, licence fees, routes and fares, timetables over five pages. Following this item are similar regulations for the Shire of Mildura (p1086). Item 335H x 210W, consisting of four staple sections. Damaged on left hand edges, particularly around page 1081 where the two letters were pinned. (Removed at time of cataloguing). Also yellowing and damage due to silver fish along bottom edge. Printed by H.J. Green Government Printer, Melbourne. 1976.2 - Letter from Mr. P. J. Pringle (ESCo) to A. D. Murdoch Manger TB dated 16/4/1929 forwarding a copy of the Bendigo Motor Bus regulations and noted that where the buses traversed the tram routes, the fare is 1d more and that the buses have regular service schedules. Licence fee is 5/- per annum per passenger that the bus can carry. Mr. Pringle thought that this was inadequate. Also notes the cost of insurance. On ESCo letterhead - two pages white paper, has been folded into 6, pinned in the top left hand corner., damaged on the right hand edge and top left hand corner. Size 262H x 203W. 1976.3 - Carbon copy of letter from Mr. Murdoch to Mr. Pringle on pink paper, dated 20/4/1929 thanking of the advice and noting that on the Melbourne - Brighton - Caulfield route, the minimum fare where the bus traverses the same route as the tram, is 5d, while the tram fare is 4d. All corners damaged or folded, silver fish damage on right hand edge. Size - 336H x 2089W. Inside the book - see image 80i4, was a heavy sheet of cardboard headed "Fares Charges from 4/7/76" giving the adult and child fares for each section of travel. Details the various section stages and fares for each tram and bus route, General instructions, concession fares and has photos or drawings of the various special tickets, eg passes or prepaid tickets. Book consists of eight sections, bound with cloth binding on the outside covering internal staples. Second copy added 27-12-2013 ex AETA. Blue cloth covered book, 108 pages + covers and end pages, "MMTB Electric Tramways and Motor Omnibuses Sections and Fares", dated January 1969. Details the various section stages and fares for each tram and bus route, General instructions, concession fares and has photos or drawings of the various special tickets, eg passes or prepaid tickets. Book consists of four sections, sewn with end papers part of the covers. Second copy added 15-6-2015 - from Ron Scholten donation of 11-4-2015 - has an amendment sheet re Seeing Eye Dogs" pasted in over another sheet on the inside front cover. Third copy added 14-12-2015 from donation of Norm Cross 11-10-2009.Copy 1 - Has two numbers written in ink on the inside front cover. Map of the MMTB Tramway routes 1925 with a list of first and last cars, along with photographs of Wattle Park, Luna Park, and Studley Park. Provides information for the Prahran and Malvern lines, Hawthorn, Footscray, Essendon, Coburg, Kew, St Kilda, cable tram routes, and buses. Also provides information for passengers. The cover photo is of the front of W 296, with the destination of Esplanade. The map is dated by the opening of the line to West Brunswick as far as Albion St, the City Road to St Kilda line via Sturt St lines, and the electric line in Flemington Road which were all opened during mid to late 1925. See Reference. Shows a number of buildings and locations by a numbered reference list, including the Federal Parliament house. The map has advertisements around the outside of the map for Kiwi Shoe or boot polish.Yields information about the Melbourne tramway system in 1925 and demonstrates the methodology the MMTB used to provide information to travellers. Photograph - Black and White - Victorian Railways Tram at Preston Workshops 1959
Photograph of one of the three Victorian Railways "Luxury" cars that were sold to the MMTB following the closure of the final section of the St Kilda - Brighton tramway on 28-2-1959. The tramcar has been placed on No. 15 trucks to enable movement around the workshops. Two of the trams, No. 52 and 53 were modified with longer running boards, full driver's bulkheads to replace the blackout blinds, route number boxes, removal of the red oil lamps above the headlight, conversion to from Broad gauge (5'3") to standard gauge, changes to destination boxes, seating and many other changes.
