Photograph of Commercial Hotel, corner Hogan and Ross Streets, Tatura. One of the earliest in township. Built by Ted Reid, c 1870. T. Hogan purchased hotel and he and his family carried on the business till about 1908. The Telestar room, added later. Herman Bernhard SCHMIDT was a foundry owner in Queensland. He was interned and sent to Gaythorne internment camp for 6 months and then sent to Tatura Camp 1 until 1946 when he was released.Black and white sketch Camp 1 Tatura showing boundary of camp and location of huts. Copy of photograph of Royal visit to Tatura, 5 March 1954. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were greeted on totally renovated station. decorated with masses of flowers and shrubs. The visit to Tatura of Queen Elizabeth 2 was first by a reigning monarch and no other visit has caused such excitement. The Station was highly decorated and the Royal Cypher in golden flowers mounted on scarlet velvet made a perfect background for the artistic scheme.
