'Ivory?' Chisel. Approximately 10cm long. One end is sharpened and flattened, the other is carved to form a 12-sided shape. Each end is separated by a circular stem approx. 2cm in diameter. Document. Occasionally used Postmarks - Bendigo Showground. In 1934 The Old 'Military Camp/Bendigo' postmark was used. Military Camp postmark being erased and Showground being inserted in ink. Inset - the same Postmark used as a 'relief' at Bendigo PO in 1952. In 1935, a different type of relief Postmarker was used at the Showgrounds Post office. The Postmarker that refused to die.(Being Military if simply faded away).

These jars were used in Chemist shops as advertising and storage of medical herbs.This jar was donated to the WHS by a local woman whose great uncle had a Chemist business in Boulder Kalgoorlie in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. The great uncle Harry Saxon Lee was born in 1869 in Ballarat and died in Perth W A in 1967. The Chemist shop in Boulder Kalgoorlie later became a museum.

The original glass negative is part of a set donated to the Society by Ian McKenzie, a professional photographer in Kew. The grave of Violet Laura Steel (1892-1914), after 1914. Violet Laura Steel, was the daughter of Charles Joseph Steel and Julia Harrington. She was born 31 October 1892 in the Police camp in Echuca, and died, aged 21, on 22 May 1914 at her father’s home ‘Maescourt’ in Gladstone Parade, Elsternwick. There were problems with cows eating the tee flags!
