Yields information about costing by the SEC to upgrade the tram tracks and trams in both Ballarat and Bendigo and the basis.Copy of a report sent by the Melbourne office, Engineer and Manager SEC to the Manager Ballarat Branch, 12/2/1962, titled "Tramways - Ballarat / Bendigo Abandonment". Notes the 1934-37 rehabilitation was palliative in nature, and now must be "in to stay" or "eliminated". Melbourne costs given, the cheapest form adopted, Ballarat cost about 1million pounds and Bendigo 600,000. New cars imported about 20,000 each. Total cost based on 40 cars, about 2.5m pounds. Duplicated foolscap size paper, giving roster for motormen and conductors AM and PM rosters. Victorian Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (VIOSH) Australia is the Asia-Pacific centre for teaching and research in occupational health and safety (OHS) and is known as one of Australia's leaders on the field. VIOSH has a global reputation for its innovative approach within the field of OHS management. VIOSH had its first intake of students in 1979. At that time the Institution was known as the Ballarat College of Advanced Education. In 1990 it became known as Ballarat University College, then in 1994 as University of Ballarat. It was 2014 that it became Federation University. VIOSH Australia students are safety managers, senior advisors and experienced OHS professionals. They come from all over Australia and industry. Students are taught active research and enquiry; rather than textbook learning and a one-size fits all approach. VIOSH accepts people into the Graduate Diploma of Occupational Hazard Management who have no undergraduate degree - on the basis of extensive work experience and knowledge. Information from Ken Clements, Academic Registrar, to Derek Viner re Course codes for three Graduate Diploma Courses. One of these courses is in Occupational Hazard Management (ES4F/ES4P). The other two courses are Graduate Diploma in Management and Graduate Diploma in Music. There are four pages of names and addresses of the applicants for all courses. This would be Pte James Andrew Condick No 15, enlisted 26.2.1916 age 30 years 7 months in D Coy 38th Bn, embark for England 20.6.1916, hospital in England he rejoins 38th Bn in the field on 15.1.1917, transfers to 3rd Div Salvage Coy 21.1.1917, WIA 30.4.1918 Gassed, he returns to Australia late 1919.This is a broad leather belt, made in 2 pieces, hemmed at top and bottom edge. It has a large rectangular buckle which is engraved. The belt has three tarnished silver shields which are engraved. Between the shields are diamond shaped "holes", red, white and blue alternatively. The buckle is engraved. There are blank spaces of 5 missing winner's or other shields.The buckle is engraved: - "Presented to Champion Boxer of 38th Regiment A.I.F. by the Bendigo Independent Pty Ltd. Victoria Australia." Given the tram track colour, the photo was taken possibly soon after the opening the electric tramways in Bendigo in 1903. In the view is a gold mine poppet head, the Town Hall and the various buildings along Pall Mall. This is a picture of the original Town Hall building built in High Street in the 1890's. It was designed by renowned Bendigo Architect W.C .Vahland. This picture was taken in 1979 when the Echuca Library was housed there. The Echuca Library operated out of this building from 1965 up to 2013 when the new library was built. In this photograph there are two people standing in the doorway and two cars parked in the street.This photograph is significant because it shows the first Town Hall building built in High Street in the late 1890's. The building was designed by W.C Vahland and was also used as the Law Courts before the Law Court building was built in Law Court Place. This building has also been used as the High School, while the Echuca High School was being built in the 1920's it was also used as a Kindergarten and the town Library operated there from 1965 to 2012 when the new Library was built. This demijohn was made by Bendigo Pottery for Sharpe Bros, brewers of non-alcoholic drinks such as Dandelion Ale, Ginger Beer and cordial. Sharpe Bros began in New Zealand and expanded to Australia in the early 20th century. The company was taken over by Cadbury Schweppes in 1972.An item made during the first half of the 20th century by a Bendigo pottery as a container made for the Sharpe's brewery in Victoria to contain their non alcoholic drinks for retail sale.Glazed stoneware bottle with dark brown glaze to top section, one gallon size, narrow neck glazed stoneware stopper and wire handle missing.
