Yields information about the a street procession or parade during the 1920's clothing and that a tram was parked to one side.Black and White photograph, of a Labour Day procession in the east end of Sturt St, near Grenville St, during the 1920's. Shows many people, mainly women in 1920's style clothing, watching the procession or parade, standing on either side of the northern half of the street, while a horse drawn car with a person dressed in a long beard proceeds along the street. On the tram track is ESCo tram with a large destination box parked. The tram has a Bushell's Tea on the front panel. Printed colour postcard of a horse tram travelling on the north side of Sturt St towards Lydiard St. Tram is travelling on the "right side of the road", which is unusual, horse trams normally travelled in bound on the south side or the "wrong side". Close examination shows three (3) horses on the tram, the middle appearing to be fairly small. In the back ground are the buildings on the south side of Sturt St include Harry Davies & Co. store, Stansfield & Smith Paper Warehouse. On rear is places for correspondences stamp, address. Handwritten on rear is "This will give you a fair idea of the beautiful Sturt St Ballarat. It is the prettiest I have seen. Yours " Dated 19/10/1905. Addressed to Mrs. H Digby, Callan Park Sydney NSW. Has a red Victorian 1d stamp, cancelled Melbourne 19/10/1905. Inside the folder is a printed note on Ballarat, with a note that it was just embarking on its second century, and has a population of 40,000 people. Printed c1955. Inside the folder was a two sided strip of 12 photos, that was glued to the folder. Postcard - Folder set, "Geelong Photographic Souvenir", early 1920's
Shows views of the Geelong CBD and beach area in the 1930's including one tram photo and two other photos of trams in the street and the centre poles which were later removed. Demonstrates production of souvenirs of the era - folded postcards. The photos could also be used for individual postcards.Set of 15 black and white views of Geelong printed on a folded strip, glued within a manila colour cardboard folder, titled "Geelong Photographic Souvenir". Booklet printed with an address area with title and kookaburras and on the rear, an area where the sender could write their name. Produced by The Valentine Publishing Co. Pty Ltd Melbourne. The rear has a slit on the rear cover that allowed the folder to be secured. Pictures are: 1. Panorama of Eastern Beach Geelong 2. Eastern Beach Gardens 3. Eastern Beach 4. Ryrie St with centre poles and a tram in the distance. 5. Botanic Gardens 6. Johnstone Park 7. Gordon Technical College 8. Photocopy of an article concerning the fate of a Ballarat tram after its return to Geelong and storage in open weather. The tram was in poor condition. BTPS did inspect but did not have the room to store and its poor condition went against recovery. Subsequently acquired by the TMSV and since sold?Photocopy of an article on an A4 sheet from the Geelong Advertiser dated 23-2-1985, titled "The elements a threat to historic tram". Article by David Fitzsimons about the poor condition of the body of Geelong tram No. 40 in Queens Park Newtown. Gives a short history of the tram, including its time in Ballarat as No. 43. Quotes Dr. David Ellerton who reported on the situation, Mr Tom Wilson, City Engineer of Newtown. Has a photo of the tram in Queens Park.
