Original oil painting, by Harry Clarke of mud brick house & outbuildings near Eaglehawk Golf Course, in a timber frame, signature bottom right corner, with note stuck on rear. Harry Clark lived in Lobb St North Bendigo with his wife and son Max in 1940s. He moved around working for thre mines including Central Deborah (managing or as an inspector). he lived in Alice Springs for a while. He shifted to Wangaratta where he died aged in his 80s. Full length skirt, with a three-quarter length over-skirt, edged in braided embroidery. Over-skirt is attached at the waistline, with a band of tape, and separates on the left hand side waistline. Stitched to the underskirt at the front, and edged with a .5cm dark olive coloured braid. The braid extends around the hemline of the overskirt in a looped pattern. Fabric has a woven stripe-a narrow stripe of lighter colour, and a .75cm stripe of dark grey edged with tan. Skirt fully lined with brown cotton fabric. Centre back plackett fastens with one large metal hook and eye, and six smaller hooks, and hand made cotton loops. Skirt has matching bodice 11400.744. This two piece outfit - skirt and bodice, was made by Laura's Mother in 1908, and mostly by hand. She wore it also to Mass in 1913. Clothing. All-over beading, means that this is quite a heavy little bag.Rectangular in shape, with rounded corners on the bottom, and diagonally cut at the top corners. The bag has a zipper closure, a small 5 cm long beaded loop, attaches to the zipper for ease of opening and closing. Lined with cream satin, there is an 11 cm long pocket in one side, containing a small mirror (7.5 cm x 5 cms). A small piece of confetti inside may, indicate that this bag was used at Aileen and John's marriage. Clothing. A cardboard horseshoe shape, covered in 1.3 cm wide cream textured ribbon. Ribbon is wound round the shape and stitched into position at the open ends of the horseshoe. A small sprig of waxed orange blossom, four buds, and two leaves decorate the horseshoe at the top. A 34.5 cms long loop is attached under the orange blossom, to hang from the bride's arm. this loop is fastened with a bow, just above the horse-shoe.costume, female, wedding horse shoe

Object. On the top outside of lid are the initials J.E.H. in 1.3 cm high gold lettering. This case belonged to John Frederick Harper. Machine stitched, with nickel fittings-two fasteners with a fitted lock, and nickel protectors on the four corners of the lid, and the body of the case. The lid is lined with blue silk, and also has a gathered silk pocket, with an elastic gathered top. A textured weave, cotton bow, with two rectangular shapes - 9.5 cm x 6.0 cms, with a one cm loop at the centre, attached to a folded double cotton band, 2 cm x 34 cm long, which would fit under the collar of the Lodge shirt. A 175cm diameter circulet of cotton roses and leaves. Cream cotton roses and green leaves. Veil attached over a 21cm wide section of circlet. The fine silk fabric with embroidered 'swirl'pattern is the same as matching bodice and skirt. All edges are trimmed with a double row of finely embroidered lace, stitched together to form a 4.5cm wide edging. Roses are attached at 10cm intervals. Veil dips to a V shape at centre back. Leather, oval shaped hat box (in which is stored a men's silk top hat - 11400.834). Lined in blue velvet, and blue silk. Looped handle, 29cm long, attached with 2.5cm circular metal studs - possibly brass. An oval shaped insert, lined with blue velvet and silk, hold the inverted top hat. This hat was owned by John Sargood ( refer enclosed notes) whose initials are marked on trhe hat-box - J.S. - two cms high. An internal strap of black fabric, has a leather tab at one end with a metal key shaped fastener. Unfortunately the other end is broken off. This strap would hold the hat in the cavity. An outer leather strap, 4cm wide passes over the lid, and fastens at a 6.5cm diameter, circular metal disk with key lock. End of this strap is also broken - a piece of leather is inside the hat box. Very sturdy brown leather fully lined with red velvet. Base has a velvet lined insert to hold the hat in position. A 2.5cm wide braid, attached at each side, fastens with a silvery, metal clip, to secure the hat in position. A velvet covered frame sits at the top of the hat box, this has an oval shaped hole over the centre of the hat. A very sturdy, heavy lid has a strap across the lid - part of which is now missing-this strap would have fastened and locked into the circular brass locking fastener on the hat box. Two metal circular studs and stitching, hold the handle in place on the lid. A label and stamp have been attached to the lid, but are now badly worn, and a third Victorian Railways stamp can be identified.A card inside the hat box reads box 564 Cowling Collection hat box/hat.
