Flags with various prints on were mass produced for people to wave as the Queen visited numerous towns and cities in Australia for about 3 months early in 1954. These particular ones were sold by the Red Cross for fundraising purposes. In response to an advert in the Age, George Campbell, a staunch supporter and donor to our museum, and guard of camp 13 Rudi Pruckner escape to prevent repatriation. It is Gerald Peacock's true story and details of special requirements for internees including family groups, internees, POW's, style of compounds,number interred in compound. Tatura camp 1 held 1000 German, Italian and Austrian internees from Aug1941 to Jan 1947. Camp 2 held 1000 POW's German and Italian internees from Sept. 40 to Feb.46. Photos of the opening ceremony at the Tatura Museum, in conjunction with 50th Anniversary, of the Temple Society in Australia. Sister Beatrice Moore nursed at Camp 3 during WW2 and was invited by Tatura and District Historical Society to officially open their new buildings and display on POW and Internment Camps, on 22 September 1991.
