1937 British Pattern web equipment was commonly on issue to Commonwealth forces including Australia up to the 1970's. Australian military forces changed colour from green blanco to black paint in the early 1960's.1937 pattern webbing belt with natural brass buckles and keepers. Electrical signalling lamp and battery box used by defence forces for signalling messages when in the field. These signalling lamps were used to transmit messages by switching the lamps 'on' and 'off' to represent Morse Code characters. -

Commonplace postcard sent by Frank O Brien World War One veteran and former patient of the repat, to his father from France during World Ward One. This item is not of great significance. Its value to the hospital collection is that it is memorabilia of Frank O'Brien a former patient and benefactor of the repat. Other Frank O'Brien items in the hospital collection White cardboard decoratively embossed mountboard surround and cardboard backing. Centre contains an embroidered muslin with the Australian Commonwealth Military Forces Rising Sun Emblem surrounded by the Australian and British flags with leaf decoration. This notebook belonged to Frank Ernest Armistead. He was born on 29.5.1917 at Powelltown, Victoria and enlisted on 20.11.1939. He was discharged on 9.10.1942 having served in Artillery 2/2 FD REGT. His next of kin was listed as Sydney Armistead, his brother (?).d. 27 Dec 1985, He died on 27 Dec 1985. This personal item gives an insight into the human element of World War 11 ensuring that those who were part of the Orbost community who played a vital role during this time are remembered.
