Yields information about the streetscape in Geelong prior to the opening of the Geelong Tramway system and in particular the Post Office building in Ryrie St Geelong.Black and white (sepia coloured) reproduction of a photograph from the NOW Magazine 11.7.1907 issue of NOW Magazine, of the type of Electric street car proposed to be used in Geelong. this is a typical USA tram, different to what was actual used. Two copies, one copy with more the original magazine and the other, masked. From the Geelong Historical Society. Has some scratching on the rear with possibly "711" scratched into the rear. Would appear to be a later version of Reg Item 6874. Two colour photographs showing a log cabin amongst trees. It was owned by the Edebohls family. The walls are made of logs, the gable ends have wooden shingles, and there is a more recent tin roof with the original shingle roof underneath the tin. There is a verandah on the downhill side of the house. Trees surround the house. The house is opposite Kerrs Park and is believed to be the oldest house left in Narre Warren East. -

Beginning in the mid 1800s, photographers used glass plates to capture image - collodion wet plate and gelatin dry plate. Collodion wet plate negatives were in use from c1851 until 1880s. Gelatin dry plate negatives late 1880s - 1920s. Called an ambrotype is comprised of an under exposed glass negative placed against a dark background . The dark backing material creates a positive image.Man in photo is unknown in a uniform but not very serious so it could be a 'fun thing to do'. The significance is based on the photo being on glass.A man in uniform sitting casually. The photo is on glass. Dark wood frame holding more layers making it thick with gold tin frame in the inside. The outer layer is wood with embossed (illegible?) cover facing the outside. The inside layer is the photo on glass. Next layer is another frame of gold with an oval frame and covered by glass to protect the photo. The photo sits inside the wooden frame. -
