Printed card folded to form an opening card. Front is printed with a decorative blue border enclosing the words Everlasting Silver Leaves from Durban Natal. An address has been handwritten to Miss G Dean Esmond McKenzie St Golden Square Victoria. Opening the card, on the left hand side is a coloured photograph attached to the card inside a decorative gold border. The image depicts three males wearing native headdresses standing in front of three two wheeled carriages. The words Ricksha Boys are printed in red in the border beneath the photograph. Words have been handwritten below. On the right hand side are three leaves made of silk stuck to the card within a gold decorative border. The first leaf contains the words With love to ... My only Girl printed onto the silk. The name Glad has been handwritten onto dotted space. The second leaf has a printed image of an urn with flowers growing from it. The words Good wishes have been handwritten. The third leaf has the word souvenir printed onto it with initials C.N. Clothing. Owners initials prominent on outside. Rectangular in shape, fine grained black leather. The leather forms an external shape, white inside a smaller watermark, black silk pouch has a silver frame and clasp to hold the required items. This is lined with a dark cream watermark silk, and has an outer section with side pocket, containing a mirror, and a smaller inner section divided into purse-like compartments. Each swection has a silver frame and clasp. A small piece of light card -red on one side, and possibly glued as a label on the otherside is the same shape as the handbag, and has printed in capital letters ''NOTE THE POINTS''. This may or may not relate to the bag. The outer leather section is slightly tapered-wider at the bottom, forming slight peaks. The top reflects these peaks, with a 3 cm wide band of leather, shaped wider at the top. 23 cm long at top, 21 cm long at lower edge. Silver metal, upper-case lettering:M-A-B, indicate the owners initials. .7 cm high, 7cm long. Two 1 cm wide, 28 cm long handles complete this stylish bag. Object. Finely tapered wooden cane- .7 cm diameter at base and .9 cm at base of metal handle. The rounded top, forming a handle is metal and while some numbers are visible,I do not think that there is a hallmark to indicate silver No 935 and some indistinguishable letters. The metal extends around the handle and 10.5 cm down the cane. A 2.5 cm wide ''bracelet'' of a different metal encircles the cane, over the top of the darker metal. The cane has a covering of black paint, which is showing wear and tear. The cane has a 2.7 cm metal tip-possibly brass. Composite face legs and arms. Painted features. Hair - possibly real, dark brown colour. Doll dressed in royal purple gown. Long sleeves with lace cuff. Faux fur collar around V shaped neckline at front and squared collar at back. Lace trim across front of neckline. Faux fur trim across centre front and centre back at hem. Three underskirts. Mauve satin with darker mauve frill around hem line. Stiffened white fabric (Vilene?) White drawers with lace trim on lower legs. Painted on shoes in gold paint. Purple velvet handbag edged with silver cord. Boudoir dolls are dolls that are made to sit on beds and sofas as decorations rather than being used for play. They are also called bed dolls, flapper dolls, and French dolls. Years of Production Although dolls that sit on beds are still being made today, the classic vintage boudoir dolls were made from approximately the 1920s through the 1940s. Some of the earliest dolls, made even earlier than 1920 in some cases, were made in France. Many of the dolls were made in an art deco style. -

In black and white, this photograph shows bride Aileen Beryl Ervin of McKenzie Creek, via Horsham, in her wedding attire, for her marriage to Leslie John Ellison, of McKenzie Creek via Horsham. This ceremony was officiated by Rev. Francis Fielding, on September 24th 1949, in the Horsham Methodist Church. The bride wore a beautiful gown, with a short and a long veil. On the front page is a black and white photograph of The Teachers' College, Bendigo and a list of the Editorial Staff. Editress: Miss S. Ottenson. Business Manager: Mr. A. Lewis. Secretary and Treasurer: Mr. A. Harris. Committee: Miss King, Miss Groom, Mr. Duggan. The second page of silver and blue tells us it is vol. 1. No. 5 and the subscription for this magazine is 2/6 per copy. The editorial contains an illustration of a student with a clock and work mounting up. The message in the editorial is students are 'on the threshold of life.' Some students will be able to cope with difficulties better than others. The editorial continues to tell students keep 'striving to reach the stars' but keep their sense of humour despite life being a 'serious business'. November, 1930. Bendigo Historical Society Inc.Clothing - SILVER SILK AND LACE TRIMMED BODICE, 1860's-70's
Silver silk, with a jacquard woven floral pattern. Long sleeves have pleated tops, forming a leg-o-mutton sleeve, which gathers in at the elbows, to a narrow fitted sleeve to the wrist. A 4cm wide band of cream satin embroidered and corded lace. Cream cording and lace trims the cuffs, the shoulder/arm hole seam, and two bands on each side of the V shaped cross-over bodice. Metal press-studs fasten the cross over bodice at the waistline. Cream satin with embroidered lace overlay forms a 5cm wide stand-up collar and a centre front panel at neckline. Twelve metal hooks and eyes fasteners fasten the grey cotton front lining of the bodice. The cotton lining of the bodice is part machine, and part hand stitched.
