Happy Valley was originally called Lucky Woman's. The School opened under the name of Happy Valley in 1883, and the brick building probably dates from that time. Miles Barraclough was the head teacher from 1873 to 1887. When mining ceased the population declined and the land reverted to grazing. The School closed in 1940. A large lot of papers, including this note and many telegrams, were apparently found in the ceiling cavity of the Sandy Creek/Tarnagulla Post and Telegraph Office in the later 20th Century, during building works. Donald Clark Collection. A handwritten note, probably a draft for a telegram sent from Tarnagulla Telegraph/Post Office. From John Green to James Fries (?), Manager, North Poverty G. Mi. Co., Greman's (?) Chambers, Sandhurst Message reads 'Revoke proxy to R. Rook. Appoint Robert Church'. -
