This was retrieved in 1982 by Geoff Stevenson. It was a part of the original jetty at Tabbara on the Brodribb River used by Samuel Richardson who established his mill in .1882. The first saw mill plant at Orbost was set up early in 1876, There was a constant demand for timber to supply the growing townships of Orbost , Marlo and surrounds. It was at this mill that the original paddle steamer Curlip was built. More information in "Curlip" by May Leatch.The Richardson family was one of the very early settler families to establish themselves in the Orbost district. Before the Richardson's mill was established, settlers in the Snowy region either rough cut their own timber or had to bring it in from mills some distance away.A portion of a post from the old Tabbara jetty on the Brodribb River - Samuel Richardson's mill . The Julian Smith direct blood transfusion pump was invented by Dr Smith in Melbourne in the late 1930s. Smith founded St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne and was known as an inventor and photographer as well as a pioneering surgeon. His blood transfusion innovations were adopted worldwide during the 1940s. This belonged to Dr Bill Rawling's and was in a medical bag that he was used in the 1940s and 1950s. These student art posters were collected by Geoff Wallis. The posters show a change in advertising style. They also indicate the history of the name changes and locations. The facility was initially called Ballarat College of Advanced Education and was located at Mt Helen. This changed and became the University of Ballarat, still at Mt Helen. These pamphlets were part of the "Chieu Hoi" (open arms) campaign designed to encourage North Vietnamese and Viet Cong soldiers to defect. They granted a soldier free passage through US/South Vietnamese held territory. They were dropped over the countryside as well individually.
